RESOLUTION OF THE CO~DN cOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JFc~FFER-
SONVILLE RECOGNIZING THE NEEDS FOR THOROUGHFARE IMPROVE-
MENTS TO THE 10TH AND SPRING STREET TRAFFIC CORRIDORS AND
CHARGING THE JEFFERSONVILLE DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT
WITH TI~ RESPONSIBILITY FOR DEVELOPING AND IMPLt~ENTING
A THOROUGHFARE PROPOSAL
WFJEREAS, it is in the City's interest to encourage and promote
the development of a maj or thoroughfare system in a marmer that will serve
the co,unity efficiently and effectively; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that the City's two major traffic cor-
ridors are inadequate to accomodate anticipated street traffic volumes; and
WHEREAS, an effective transportation planning process involves the
proper coordination and implementation of a number of operational procedures
and working arrangements; and
~IEREAS, it is the desire of the City that an on going comprehen-
sive transportation planning process be initiated and maintained.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF TB~E CI]7 OF
JEFFERSONVILLE:
1. That the report entitled, Analysis of Traffic Improvement Pro-
posals, 10th and Spring Street Corridors, City of Jeffersonville dated Decem-
ber 1974, be accepted by the City as a documented statement that some type of
action is needed regarding the 10th and Spring Street traffic corridors as a
guide to evaluating alternative improvement possibilities.
2. That the City's Co~nunity Development Agency, the Jeffersonville
Department of Redevelopment, be charged with the responsibility of assisting
the City with the developing, coordination and implementation of traffic oro-
posals.
3. That the Department of Redevelopment is hereby delegated the re-
sponsibilities to implement a decision, with the anproval and concurrence of
the Council, regarding improvement to the 10th and Spring Street corridors in
view of scheduled activities in the Claysburg Urban Re~'~al Area and even more
importantly in view of the numerous procedures and the time frame involved in
carrying out thoroughfare improvements beyond the Urban Renewal Area.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVE~D that the Clerk Treasurer of said City of
Jeffersonville, Indiana, is hereby ordered and directed to give notice as
provided by law.
