HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-27-01SEPTEMBER 27, 2001 1 COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA SEPTEMBER 27, 2001 The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana met in special session in the Multi-Purpose Meeting Room in the City-County Building, Jeffersonville, Indiana at :00 P.M. on the 27th day of September, 2001. Council President Les Merkley called the meeting to order, with Clerk and Treast rer Peggy Wilder at the desk. Also present was Deputy Clerk Barbara Hollis. The roll was wa, called and those present were; Councilpersons Les Merkley, Denny Frantz, Rob . iz, Barbara Wilson, Ron Grooms, and Vicki Conlin. Absent: Councilperson Ron Ellis. Council President Merkley introduced and read aloud Resolution No. 2001-R-23 A Resolution Designating Funds For Fuel Councilperson Waiz made the motion to pass Resolution No. 2001-R-23, seconded by Councilperson Conlin. Following discusSion, We motion to pass Resolution No. 2001-R-23 passed on a vote of 5-0. Council President Merkley did not vote. Council President Merkley read aloud a motion requesting list of city owned/lea zed vehicles. Following discussion, the Council agreed to put the motion in the form f a Resolution. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to pass Resolution No. 2001-R-24, A Resolution Requesting List Of City Owned/Leased Vehicles, seconded by Councilpe~ 5on Grooms. Councilperson Frantz suggested including addresses of those employees that h ~ve take-home vehicles. Councilperson Grooms asked how the list will be used. Council, President Merkley said it would be used to compare it with the previous list. The roti to pass Resolution No. 2001-R-24 passed on a vote of 4-1. Councilperson Conlin voted against passage and Council President Merkley did not vote. Mr. Ken Ogden has concerns regarding the capital expenditures for budget year 21302. Mr. Ogden feels there should be a plan for purchases. He also feels community will be ]mrt more by limiting capital expenditures than if property taxes were raised $.05. Mr. Og :len said the Council cannot micro manage the City. Clerk Treasurer Wilder explained the SEPTEMBER 27, 2001 2 procedure for capital purchases for 2002. The budgeting of capital expenditures (40~se~es) was explained. , Council President Merkley thanked Councilperson Waiz for his assistance while he attended a conference in Merriville.
