Participation in an inter-Governmental
Contractual Agreement with Jeffersonville
Township and the Town of Clarksville
Regarding the Operation of a Central
Alarm System.
WHEREAS, the City has entered into an agreement with
jeffersonville Township and the Town of Clarksville for participation
in a Jeffersonville Township Communications and Alarm Center, which
contract is dated the ~7 ~ ~day of ~)/ ,., 1975, and
reads as follows:
INTERGOVERNMENTAL CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT.
IN RE FIRE PROTECTION. AND
ALARM SYSTEM ....
THIS CONTRACT AND AGREEMENT is entered into pursuant to
authority as granted by the legislature in 1972 by Public Law 137
Section 1, page 62 of the Acts, being also cited as Indiana Code
18-5-1-1 (Burns 53 ll01) and all acts supplemental thereto.
The parties are as follows: jeffersonville Township, the
Town of Clarksville, and the Civil City of jeffersonville, all in
the State of Indiana and County of Clark.
The purpose of this agreement and of these communications and
alarms arrangements is to better serve the people of these govern-
mental units by providing a more~efficient and more rapid communi-
cations system for the transmittal of fire and emergency alarms.
The title of the entity hereby created shall be: ,,jeffersonville
Township Con~nunications and Alarms Center".
It is specifically agreed by the parties hereto as follows:
1. jeffersonville Township shall furnish a complete communi-
cations and alarms system including housing therefor, personnel to
operate same and all equipment therein needed including electrical
and electronic, telephone, and such other as may be required but
not here enumerated, to carry out this purpose.
2. That the jeffersonville Township Trustee is designated as
the Officer who shall receive, disburse and account for all funds
of this joint undertaking.
3. The Town of Clarksville and the Civil City of jefferson-
ville agree to connect to this facility for the purpose of communi-
cations and the transmittal of emergency and fire alar~s for the
operation of the fire departments of each of such governmental sub-
divisions in order that all fire alarms within the entire township
will be dispatched through this cormnunications system.
4. The township may extend this same communications service
to any other governmental subdivision or fire department within
Clark County so long as such extension does not interfere with or
lessen the services rendered to the parties hereto.
5. This a~reement may be terminated by any of the governing
bodys of the parties hereto upon 180 days notice to the remaining
parties.

thereby be abrogated.
7. In order to assist in the operation of this communications
center and for the purpose of assisting in establishing and main-
taining rules~and regulations, there is hereby created an Advisory
Committee which shall be composed of (1) the Jeffersonville Town-
ship Trusteed (2) the Supervisor of the Communications Center, (3)
the Chief of the Fire Department of the Town of Clarksville, (4)
the Chief of the Fire Department of the Civil City of Jeffersonville,
and (5) the Chief of the McCullough Volunteer Fire Department in
jeffersonville Township.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF and pursuant to proper authority the under-
signed have executed this agreement for and on behalf of the govern-
mental units by each represented.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE:
Section 1.
That the contract as hereinabove set out for participation
in Jeffersonville Township Communication and Alarm System is hereby
approved and ratified.
Section 2.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval.
