An Ordinance Authorizing the Conveyance of
Real Estate to the Department of Parks and
Recreation for the Purpose of Implementing
the Construction of a Park.
WHEREAS, the City is the owner of the tract of land described
as follows:
Being the old City Hall Lot, also known as Lot 12 of the
Public Square, in the City of Jeffersonville, Clark County,
Indiana, described as follows: Beginning on the Westerly
line of Market Alley 165.00 feet Westerly from Spring Street
and 7.00 feet Northerly from the original line of Market
Street; thence Westerly along a line parallel with and 7.00
feet North of the original ri~ht-of-way line of Market Street
120.20 feet to the Easterly line of ~ 10.00 foot alley; thence
Northerly along said Easterly line 260.00 feet to the Southern
right-of-way line of Court Street; thence Easterly along said
Southern line 120.20 feet to the Westerly line of Market At~ey;
thence Southerly along said Westerly line 260.00 feet to the
point of beginning, containing 31,252 square feet, more or less.
and
WHEREAS, the City purchased such real estate for the purpose of
causing to be constructed and operated thereon a park for the benefit
of the elderly citizens residing in Clark Arms Housing Project as
well as for other citizens of the community and
WHEREAS, such park can be more properly constructed and operated
by the Department of Parks and Recreation and
WHEREAS, such department can apply for and receive aid from the
Department of Outdoor Recreation of the Federal Government.
NOW THEREFORE, it is the sense of the Common Council that such
property should be conveyed for the greatest possible benefit to the
Board of Parks and Recreation.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE,
INDIANA:
Section 1.
That the civil City convey the above described real estate to
the Department of Parks and Recreation for the purpose hereinabove
set out.
