RESOLUTION OF THE COMHON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERS0h~ILLE EXPRESSING
THEIR INTENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN OVEEALL ECONOMIC .**
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR CLARK COUNTY.
WHEREA$~ The Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965, as
amended, provides assistance to communities to improve conditions of un-
employment or underemployment and establish stable and diversified econo-
mies; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville considers
the Economic Development of the City to be of utmost importance for its
citizens; and,
%AREREAS, Clark County, along with all jurisdictions within the County
meets the c~iteria to qualify for programs of the U.S. Economic Develop-
ment Administration, providing an Overall Economic Development Program
is prepared; and,
WHEREAS~ the Comman Council of the City of Jeffersonville has deter-
mined that the preparation of an Overall Economic Development Program
can be beneficial in qualifying for programs of the Economic Develop-
ment Administration and improving economic conditions of the City; ands
WHEREAS, the River Hills Regional Planning Commission has received
the authorization of the Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Economic Develop-
ment Administration to be designated as an Economic Development District,
providing a District O.E.D.P. is prepared; and,
WHEREAS, the River Hills Regional Planning Commission has offered
the assistance of its staff for the preparation of a countywide Overall
Economic Development Program for Clark County and all jurisdictions with-
in the County as well as preparation of a District O.E.D.P.;
NOW THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City
of Jeffersonville hereby authorizes the River Hills Regional Planning
Commission to assist in the preparation of an Overall Economic Develop-
ment Program which will include the City of Jeffersonville; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Co~non Council of the City of
Jeffersonville hereby authorizes the River Hills Regional Planning
Commission to prepare a District Dverall Economic Development Program
to include Clark,Floyd, Harrison, Scott and Washington County and all
jurisdictions within those counties; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVE~., that the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonviile hereby encourages the active participation of all indi-
viduals, groups, or institutions within the City of Jeffersonville in
the preparation of an Overall Economic Development Program.
