TREATMENT PROBLEMS IN JEFFERSONVILLE, CLARKSViLLE,
sELLERSBURG, CHARLESTOWN, AND OAK PARK CONSERVANCY
DISTRICT
WHEREAS, Th.e City of Jeffersonville,

District, recognize' th.at a solution to thee
treatment is essential to the convenience,
general welfare of their citizens; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to carry out th.e wish~s of.th.e parties
of th.is resolution in a manner th.at will satisfy the federal and
state regulations and requirements, relative to the receipt of
federal and state funds for sewage ~reatment programs~ and
'WHEREAS, the sewage treatment problem is not unique to the
boundaries of any jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, th.at'effective solution requires cooperation and joint
effort; and
WHEREAS, the solution to sewage treatment can be acb.leved through.
the joint action of th.e parties to this resolution;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
We, the representatives of local public agencies within Clark
County, Indiana, hereby agree to join ~ogether in a, voluntary
commission under, the au%h.ority of the ~nterlocal Cooperation Act.
(Acts of 19~7, ch.ll8, Seo. i thru 7, as. found in Burns'
Statutes 1964 Section ~3-1101 thru 53-1107).

We realize that our individual and common solution to the
sewage problem rests with the inter-dependent actions of the local
public agencies, which shall comprise our commission.
This ~oluntary commission, which~ we shall form shall be a
vehicle for closer cooperation of local governments and shall
recognize the sovereign status of all member tunics and shall not
tnto~vor~e in marmots of local ju~,isdist£on.
Our only power sh~all be tha~ created by the cooperation of
all member units to influence the legislature, federal, state and
private funding agencies toward the needs and the solution of our
mutual problems of sewage treatment for the mutual benefit of
our member units.
Our goal is to retain and strengthen local sovereignty while
combining our total resources for' the solution of the sewerage
~reatment problem beyond our individual capabilities, further
BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
Th.e various public agencies hereby agree to cooperate and
all in good faith, for thee p~urpose of preparing and entering into
an inter-local cooperative agreement for the benefits of the part-
icipan~s herein.
