HomeMy WebLinkAbout8-29-01Minutes of the Jeffersonville City Council Budget Meeting Wednesday, August 29, 2001 The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in budget session on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 at 7:00 P.M. The meeting was held the City County Building, Mayor's Conference Room. Council President Les Merkley called the meeting to order with Clerk Treasurer Peggy Wilder, Deputy Clerks Suzy Bass and Barbara Hollis at the desk. The roll was call and those present were: Councilpersons Les Merkley, Ron Grooms, Rob Waiz, Ron Ellis, and Barbara Wilson. Absent were: Councilpersons Denny Frantz and Vicki Conlin. Also present was Mayor Tom Galligan. Clerk Treasurer Wilder stated the current tax rate, after making the changes from the previous meeting, is $4.41. Council President Merkley reviewed the last meeting decision; include the police and fire contract, 5% reduction in the 200 and 300 items of the 2001 budget, encumber the park bond, and move all capital purchases to Cum Cap Dev. Following extended discussion Councilperson Grooms made the motion to take an additional $20,000 from the Information Technology budget, $5,000 from Council budget Main Street, and reduce the expected expenditures in Fire Pension by $46,400, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. Discussion was held regarding the 2002 Salary Ordinance. The majority agreed there should be no new people and no raises other than the 31/2%.
