HomeMy WebLinkAbout8-27-01Minutes of the Jeffersonville City Council Budget Meeting Monday, August 27, 2001 The Common Council of the City o£ Jeffersonville met in budget session on Monday, August 27, 2001 at 7:10 P.M. The meeting was held the City County Building, Mayor's Conference Room. Council President Les Merkley called the meeting to order with Deputy Clerks Suzy Bass and Barbara Hollis at the desk. The roll was called and those present were: Councilpersons Les Merkley, Rob Waiz, Ron Ellis, and Barbara Wilson: Absent were: Councilpersons Denny Frantz, Run Grooms, and Vicki Conlin. Discussion was held regarding the money in the current year budget for the Park bond payment. The amount in the 2001budget will be encumbered to lower the amount in the 2002 budget. Lowering the expected expenditures for 2001 (Line 2) in the Fire Pension Fund was discussed. The Clerk Treasurer's Office was directed to leave new employees in the budgets of those funds not on the tax rate. Following discussion of several budget cuts, including cutting Information Technology software 20,000, Building Commission demolition $15,000, and Council Main Street $5,000, it was decided to look at the tax rate with decreasing the 2001 budgets in the 200 and 300 series by 5%, and taking 1% from line 2 in the General, Cum Cap Dev, and Sanitation funds, and removing all capital expenditures. Those present agreed to move all capital expenditures to Cum Cap Dev. Fuel concerns and take-home vehicles, other than police cars, were discussed. The meeting for Tuesday, August 28, 2001 will be cancelled and the Council will meet again on Wednesday, August 29, 2001. There being no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 6:30 P.M.
