Monday, August 20, 2001
The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in budget session on Monday,
August 20, 2001 at 5:45 P.M. The meeting was held the City County Building, Mayor's
Conference Room. Council President Les Merkley called the meeting to order with
Clerk Treasurer Peggy Wilder, Deputy Clerks Suzy Bass and Barbara Hollis at the desk.
The roll was called and those present were: Councilpersons Les Merkley, Rob Waiz,
Run Ellis, and Barbara Wilson. Absent were: Councilpersons Denny Frantz, Ron
Grooms, and Vicki Conlin.
Clerk Treasurer Wilder distributed new budget forms containing a 3 ½ percent salary
increase, the contract increases, and the 2000 budget with 2001 requests noted. With
these mtmbers the tax rate is $4.56. This represents a tax rate increase of $.18 over last
year. The shortages in miscellaneous revenues were reviewed.
Clerk Treasurer Wilder was told to advertise the budget numbers at the maximum levy.
It was agreed to table the first reading of the 2002 salary ordinance scheduled for
Monday, August 20, 2001.
Councilperson Conlin arrived at 6:05 P.M., and Councilperson Frantz arrived at 6:06
P.M. The meeting was reviewed.
Health insurance funding was discussed.

There being no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 6:30 P.M.
