A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE PURCHASE OF LAND FOR
USE AS A PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY
IN THE EASTERN PORTION OF JEFFERSONVILLE
WHEREAS, the boundaries of the City of Jeffersonville (the "City") have
grown significantly in an easterly direction in recent years; and
WHEREAS, the City is likely to continue its growth to the east; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to provide adequate fire protection to the new
portions of the City in the eastern corridor it is necessary to purchase land in that
portion of the City and construct a new fire station;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Common
Council of the City of Jeffersonville supports the City administration in its efforts
to locate and purchase a suitable parcel of land in the eastern corridor of the City
on which to locate a new fire station; and
IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council will attempt to
provide adequate funding for the purchase of a suitable parcel of land in the
eastern corridor of the City and for the construction of a new fire station on that
parcel of land.
