RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE,
INDIANA, IN SUPPORT OF THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE INDIANA
MAIN STREET PROGRAM
WHEREAS, a program entitled "The Indiana Main Street Program"
has been established in Indiana to encourage the development, redevelopment
and improvement of downtown areas in Indiana cities and towns; and,
WHEREAS, the puFpose of said program is an effort to ensure the
community's overall attractiveness for new investment; and,
WHEREAS, said program will be administered by the Indiana Department
of Commerce (DOC) with technical assistance provided by the National Main
Street Center, an affiliate of the National Trust for Historic Preservation; and,
WHEREAS, the philosophy of the Main Street approach encgurages economic
development through historic rehabilitation and f6cuses on an intergrated
four-point approach (organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring)
to help communities create a positive, identifiable image for their downtown.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA, that said Council acknowledges the existance of the
Indiana Main Street Program and supports the City's participation in said
program as a means to improve and promote the city's overall attractiveness
for new investment.
'' BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk-Treasurer of said City of Jeffersonvilli
Indiana, is hereby ordered and directed to give notice as provided by law.
Adopted by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana
