ORDINANCE AMENDING 84-OR-23
REDUCING SPEED LIMIT ON HOPKINS
LANE
WHEREAS, residential and traffic patterns along and nearby
Hopkins Lane in the City of jeffersonville have changed substantially
in the past few years; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of jeffersonville
feels that the existing 35 MPH speed limit on Hopkins Lane in the
City of jeffersonville is unreasonable in light of these changes
in the residential and traffic patterns in the area; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of jeffersonville
feels that a 25 MPH speed limit would more properly protect the
interests, health and welfare of the residents of Hopkins Lane,
of motorists traveling along Hopkins Lane and of residents adjoining
Hopkins Lane.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of
the City of jeffersonville, Indiana, that the speed limit on
Hopkins Lane, in the City of jeffersonville, shall be reduced
from the current level of 35 MPH to 25 MPH, from Eighth Street to
Utica Pike, in accordance with the notice and posting requirements
of Indiana State Law, and that the Board of Public works and
Safety of the City of Jeffersonville shall take all necessary
steps to post that 25 MPH speed limit within a reasonable time
after the effect of this ordinance.
This Ordinance shall be in full force following its
signing and publication as required by law.
