HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-OR-18ORIGINAL WHEREAS THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of Jeffersonville, desires to improve the sidewalks of Jeffer- sonville and WHEREAS, sidewalks benefit the property owners and the City of Jeffersonville and WHEREAS THE COUNCIL believes that matching funds for the improvement of sidewalks should be provided by the City of Jeffersonville to the property owners on a 5~/50 basis from the Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund of the Civil City of Jeffersonville NOW, THEREFORE, BE. IT ORDAINED by the COMMON COUNCIL of the City of Jeffersonville, State of Indiana as follows: A committee shall be formed for the purpose of prioritizing applications for matching funds for the purpose of sidewalk improvement. Said committee shall be composed of the following: the City Engineer, the City Building Commissioner and three (3) City Council persons. Said committee shall immediately develop application forms, development standards and dates to advertise and accept or deny applications for sidewalk improvements. The committee shall consider public safety and the present sidewalk conditions as a criteria in placing sidewalk improvements on a priority list. The committee shall adopt such rqles as deemed necessary to provide for the efficient expenditure of funds from the Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund of the City of Jeffersonville. SECTION 95 If deemed necessary by the committee, new sidewalks shall be narrowed to allow for existing trees. -2- Ail applicants selected by the committee shall be notified of said selection by mail. Selected sidewalk projects shall be funded on a 5~/5~ basis with fifty percent (50%) of said funds coming from the property owner and fifty percent (5~%) of said funds being matched by the city from the Cumulative Capital Imp£ovement Fund of the City of Jeffersonville. Selected applicants shall be required to post their fifty percent (50%) of the agreed cost of the sidewalk improvement with the City Clerk-Treasurer before any work is started on said improvements. This ordinance shall become effective upon its passage, approval and publication as required by the laws of the State of Indiana. rem ATTEST: C~.'
