ORDINANCE AMENDING JEFFERSONVILLE'S HISTORIC DISTRICT ORDINANCE

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by
the City of Jeffersonville that the Czty
amended by the addition of the following:
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of jeffersonville
to establish sign requirements for buildings or s~ructures

Projected Signs Within the Historic District
(1) All existing projecting signs within the confines of
the Historic District may remain until such time -there
is a change in ownership of such business or a change
of the sign.
If an existing projecting sign is changed in any way,

the projecting sign must be removed. This pertains to
existing owners, new owners, existing occupancy or new
occupancy. This includes sign, brackets, bracing, wiring
and any other item that may be in direct relation to
the s~gn.
Signs Within the Historic District
Ail new s%gns which are installed within the Historic
District shall be w:Lndow glass signs, wall plaques or
shingle type signs.
(2) Ail signs must be approved by the Building Commissioner.
The sign painter or advertising contractor shall submit
a drawing of the sign, showing the size and color, two
weeks prior to the date when final approval is requested.
After approval of such sign, permits must be obtained
prior to installation of such signage.
(3) Lighted signs shall use an indirect lighting method and
not be fluorescent or spotlights, signs

Sign sizes shall not exceed 18" high x 36" wide or a
combined area of 16 square feet without prior approval

(5) Fees for such signage shall be the appropriate fees in
force at the time of application as indicated by the
Jeffersonville City Code, Section 150.132 [3).
(6) Ground board signs and roof signs require application
and approval of the Historic Board.
(7) All signs installed without appropriate permits will be
subject to double fees as per Jeffersonville City Code,
Section 150.142.
(8) Permits are required for any and all sign changes;
either type, wording, display or complete change oi the
sign.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
after its passage and approval.
