ORDINANCE REDUCING RESIDENTIAL SEWER RATES DUE TO EMERGENCY DROUGHT CONDITIONS WHEREAS, Southern Indiana and all of the Midwest is experiencing unprecedented drought conditions necessitating high levels of outdoor watering; and WHEREAS, the use of water to protect lawns and vegetation by residential homeowners not correspondingly increase the sanitary sewer system of in the City of Jeffersonville will the amount of water deposited into the City of Jeffersonville; and WHEREAS, the sewer rates for residential users in the City of Jeffersonville should be correspondingly lowered during the period of these drought conditions in order to promote equity. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of ' the City of Jeffersonville that: 1. An emergency exists in the City of Jeffersonville with regard to drought conditions which conditions necessitate extraordinary water of lawns and vegetation by residential owners and lessees of residential developments within the City of Jeffersonville. 2. That in order to promote equity it is hereby established that residential sewer rates in the City of Jeffersonville (10%) commencing July 1, 30, 1988, on account of such emergency. 1988, through and including shall be and hereby are reduced by ten percent September 3. That commencing October 1, 1988, the rates as scheduled in the existing ordinance of the City of Jeffersonville for sewer charges shall resume and continue until other action by this Council. Ordinance shall be in full force and effect timely passage, promulgation and approval by the adopted by the Common Council of the City of Clark County, Indiana, on the / ~ day of , 1988.
