AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 78-OR-43 WITH REGARDS
TO THE KEEPING OF LIVESTOCK WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS
WHEREAS, private companies have been desirous of providing
horse drawn carriage transportation on the jeffersonville
Riverfront and to the jeffersonville Historic District; and
WHEREAS, this service is currently being provided by a
private company; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of jeffersonville
believes that such service enhances the quality of life for
citizens in the City, and that such service is a desirable
attraction within its service district.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of
the city of jeffersonville that it hereby amends ~90.16 of the
jeffersonville City Code which makes it unlawful for any person
or harbor any livestock within the City limits as
to keep

public health, safety, or welfare. Furthermore, the
private company must specifically agree in writing to
hold the City harmless from any injury or damage
which might result from the keeping of such livestock
within the City, to keep and maintain the premises in
a clean and sanitary manner, and to abate any
nuisance as identified by the Common Council of the
City of jeffersonville or the jeffersonville Board of
Public Works and safety within ten (10) daysof
receipt of written notice of any such nuisance. This
permit shall be granted without charge, but may be
revocable at any time by the Common council of the
City of jeffersonville or the jeffersonville Board of
Public Works and safety.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its
timely passage, promulgation and approval by the Mayor.
Passed and adopted by the Common Council of the City of
jeffersonville, Clark county, Indiana, on the ~_ day of
