AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING CERTAIN DEVELOPMENT AREAS AS
"ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TARGET AREAS" WITHIN THE CITY OF
JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
WHEREAS, it has been requested that certain areas within
the city of jeffersonville be designated as economic development
target areas pursuant to I. C. 6-1.1-12.1 thru I.C.
and
6-1.12.1-7;
WHEREAS, the Common Council for the City of Jeffersonville,
Indiana, recognizes the need to stimulate growth and to maintain
a sound economy within the City of Jeffersonville; and,
WHEREAS, certain areas of the city are undesirable
for, and/or impossible of, normal development and occupancy
because of a lace of development, cessation of growth,
deterioration of improvements or character of occupancy, age,
obsolescence, substandard buildings or other factors which have
impaired values or prevented a normal development of property or
use of property; and,
WHEREAS, the Common CoUncil for the City of Jeffersonville
further recognizes that incentives to locate development in these
un-utilized or by-passed areas would be in the City's best
interest; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council for the City of Jeffersonville
further recognizes that it would be beneficial to designate
certain areas within the City that presently qualify as economic
development target areas, for purposes of a deduction against the
assessed value of property; and,
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Commission for the City
has recommended to the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville, Indiana, that certain areas of the City be
designated as economic development target areas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the
city of Jeffersonville, Indiana, that:
The following area be declare~ and designated as an
ec~0nomic development target area:
Ail of Blocks Sixty-one (61) and Six~y-two
(62) and all of the Twenty foot (20') wide
alleys in both blocks in the City of
jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana.
Also, Indiana Avenue 6th to 7th Street.
This area is hereby designated as an "Economic Development
Target Area".
