RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FULL SALARY PAYMENT TO CITY EMPLOYEES
CALLED TO ACTIVE SERVICE IN THE ARMED SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of jeffersonville
is fully aware that the tensions in the Persian Gulf area
may require certain employees of the City of jeffersonville
who are also members of the United States Armed Services to
be called to active duty for deployment to that areal ahd,
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of jeffersonville
is further aware that the active duty pay for such persons
in the Armed Services may be less than their salaries currently
being paid by the City of jeffersonville; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of jeffersonville
in respect of the enormous personal sacrifice made by such
persons serving in the Armed Services hereby resolves that
no such person shall incur a financial loss by reason of being
called to active duty.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council
of the City of jeffersonville that any City employee who is
called to active duty by the United States Armed Services
during the Persian Gulf crisis shall be compensated by the
City on the usual biweekly basis an amount equal to the diff-
erence between their active duty Armed Services pay and their
present rate of pay with the City of jeffersonville, if the
latter such pay is greater. Such supplemental pay by the
City shall continue during the period of active duty service
by such employees.
