HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-R-16 RESOLUTION NO. 90-R-16 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE LOCATION AND DEVELOPMENT BY THE SCOTT PAPER COMPANY OF ITS NEW MANUFACTURING FACILITIES IN CLARK coUNTY, INDIANA WHEREAS, it has recently been publicized that the Scott Paper Company is considering a 1,000 acre tract of real property south' of Charlestown, Indiana, in the unincorporated portion of clark County, Indiana, as a potential site for its new paper mill and manufacturing facility; and, WHEREAS, it has further been publicized that such location would cause a development in excess of $3,000,000.00 and would provide the addition of 300 to 500 new jobs to Clark County; and, WHEREAS, the City of jeffersonville, Indiana, is the County Seat of Clark County, Indiana, and is the largest municipality within the County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of jeffersonville that it hereby completely lends it support and encouragement to the Scott Paper Company in urging that it select Clark County as the site for its proposed expansion of its manufacturing facilities. The Council further commits itself to being partners with the Scott Paper Company and all other public and private entities for the purpose of securing growth and prosperity for the future of all citizens of Clark County, Indiana. The Council further supports and commends the efforts of the Southern Indiana Economic Development Council in attracting potential corporate citizens such as the Scott Paper Company to the Southern Indiana area.
