HomeMy WebLinkAboutSSB November 16, 2023 CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE SANITARY SEWER BOARD MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 16, 2023 The Sanitary Sewer Board of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana met in regular session on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Jeffersonville City Hall, Mayor's Conference Room and via Zoom. Mayor Moore, attending via Zoom called the meeting to order at 3:00 pm. Board Members present were Mike Moore, Dale Orem and Bill Saegesser. Also present were Utility Director Len Ashack, Assistant Utility Director Jay Thompson, Utility Billing Office Manager Elisha Gibson, Board Attorney Les Merkley attending via Zoom, Controller Heather Metcalf, Lenin Kasthuri and Justin Ramirez representing Lochmueller Group and Jorge Lanz and Josh Darby representing Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz. Board Member Dale Orem made the motion to approve the revised agenda with the addition of Transfer of Old Arrow Board to Vehicle Maintenance Department and second by Board Member Saegesser, passing on a vote of 3-0. The minutes of the November 2, 2023 meeting were presented for approval. Board Member Bill Saegesser made the motion to approve the minutes as presented, second by Board Member Dale Orem, passing on a vote of 3-0. CONTROLLER'S REPORT Controller Heather Metcalf presented the claim list dated November 16, 2023 in the amount of$ 349,714.70. Board Member Bill Saegesser made the motion to approve the claim list as presented, second by Board Member Dale Orem, passing on a vote of 3-0. Manager Elisha Gibson presented the Sewer Adjustment Certificate dated November 9, 2023 in the amount of$57,050.32 Sewage and $201.62 Drainage. Board Member Bill Saegesser made the motion to approve the Adjustment Certificate as presented, second by Board Member Dale Orem, passing on a vote of 3-0. OLD BUSINESS-No old business at this meeting NEW BUSINESS a. Director Ashack presented and explained authorization to Purchase Pumps for Hadley Commons. Proposal is from Covalen, Inc., in the amount of$73,138.00 total cost for Thirteen (13) Units. (Combine Unit Price $5,626.00) (Complete Package) Following discussion, Board Member Bill Saegesser made the motion to approve contract with Covalen, with contingency that we wait until have signatures on all Right of Entry documents, second by Board Member Dale Orem. b. Len Ashack presented the contract from Makk Landscape Group for the Meadows Subdivision Outfall Cleanup Phase #1 (Drainage Board) with costs as follows: Water Way Clearing Daily Rates of$4,633.63, Water Way Clearing Minimum (6 days) $27,801.78 and Water Way Clearing Maximum (8 days) $37,069.04. Following discussion, Board Member Bill Saegesser made the motion to approve the contract, second by Board Member Dale Orem, passing on a vote of 3-0. c. Len Ashack presented Capacity Request for 10 Single Family Homes, Springdale Meadow by the old Optimist Club, off Springdale. Following discussion, Board Member Dale Orem made the motion to approve the Capacity Request, second by Board Member Bill Saegesser, passing on a vote of 3-0. d. Len Ashack requested to transfer Old Arrow Board to Vehicle Maintenance Department. Following Discussion, Board Member Bill Saegesser made the motion to approve the transfer of Old Arrow Board to Vehicle Maintenance Department, second by Board Member Dale Orem, passing on a vote of 3-0. ENGINEERING REPORTS - No Reports at this meeting DEPARTMENT REPORT Director Ashack reviewed the October 2023 CSO Volumes: 1 CSO at the 10th Street Lift Station in October and no rain so far in November. Flow for the Downtown Treatment Plant has been 5.25 MGD average and the North Plant has been 2.06 MGD through October 2023. Both treatment plants were well in compliance with all of their limits and the flows from 10th Street the last few days were less than a million gallons a day. One day it was less than 600,000 gallons. November 2023 Report for READI Grant: So far, we have spent $5.1 million from grant. Monthly Report on CD was provided. ATTORNEY COMMENTS/REPORT-Attorney, Les Merkley requested that the Board give him approval to dismiss the lawsuit, City of Jeffersonville and City of Jeffersonville Sanitary Sewer Board vs. David Bauer and Discovery Developers, Inc. Following discussion, Board Member Bill Saegesser made the motion to allow attorney Les Merkley to file a Motion to Dismiss the case through the Court, second by Board Member Dale Orem. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS- The next regular meeting is scheduled for December 7, 2023 at 3:00 pm.
