ORDINANCE NO. 2023-OR-(Dq
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING JEFFERSONVILLE
ANIMAL SHELTER NON-REVERTING FUND
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville manages and operates the Jeffersonville Animal
Shelter(the "Shelter"); and
WHEREAS, at times donations are made to the Shelter; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville has previously entered into a lease agreement
with Sprint Spectrum (the "Lease") for portion of the land owned by the City; and
WHEREAS, funds from the Lease has been deposited into Account#2510 entitled,
"Sprint Lease"; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville (the "Council) desires to
establish a non-reverting fund for the purposes of receiving funds donated to the Shelter and
those funds from the Lease; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes the establishment of such a non-reverting fund will
help fund capital improvements to the Shelter and payment of certain expenditures related to the
operation of the Shelter; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville that it hereby establishes a non-reverting fund for the purposes of receiving funds
donated to the Shelter and for using those monies to make capital improvements to the Shelter or
operating expenses related to technology at the Shelter including computers, telephones, etc.
This fund shall be entitled the "Jeffersonville Animal Shelter Non-Reverting Fund" and monies
shall be extended from this fund only upon the filing of a proper claim in issuance of a warrant
for payment by the Controller after approval by the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville. This fund shall be a non-reverting fund and all monies received as revenues from
donations to the Shelter and proceeds from the Lease shall hereafter not be required to be
received into the general fund of the City.
IT IS FURTHER ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville
that funds existing in Account #2510 entitled, "Sprint Lease", shall be deposited into the
"Jeffersonville Animal Shelter Non-Reverting Fund"; and
This Ordinance (2023-OR- ) shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage by Common Council and approval by the Mayor.
