SANITARY SEWER BOARD
MINUTES OF JUNE 1 , 2023
The Sanitary Sewer Board of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana met in regular
session on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 3:00 P.M in Jeffersonville City Hall Mayor's
Conference Room and via Zoom. Board Member Dale Orem called the meeting to order
at 3:00 P.M. Board Members present are Bill Saegesser and Dale Orem. Mayor Mike
Moore is absent. Also present are Utility Director Len Ashack, Assistant Utility Director
Jay Thompson, Board Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Utility Billing Office Manager Elisha
Gibson, Controller Heather Metcalf, Josh Darby representing Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz,
Justin Ramirez and Mike Gangstad representing Lochmueller Group, Paul Boone
representing American Structurepoint, Jorge Lanz, and Secretary Barbara Hollis.
Board Member Saegesser made the motion to approve the agenda as presented,
second by Board Member Orem, passing on a vote of 2-0.
The minutes of the May 18, 2023 meeting were presented for approval. Board
Member Saegesser, made the motion to approve the minutes as presented, second by
Board Member Orem, passing on a vote of 2-0.
CONTROLLER'S REPORT
Controller Metcalf presented the claim list dated June 1 , 2023 in the amount of
$2,723,539.29. Insurance, debt, and constructions make up the majority of the total.
Board Member Saegesser made the motion to approve the claim list as presented,
second by Board Member Orem, passing on a vote of 2-0.
Manager Gibson presented the Adjustment Certificate dated May 26, 2023 in the
amount of$-22,337.18 Sewage, $-364.75 Drainage, and $89.10 Refund. Board Member
Saegesser made the motion to approve the Certificate as presented, second by Board
Member Orem, passing on a vote of 2-0. Board Member Orem commented on the large
numbers for leaks.
OLD BUSINESS - No Old Business This Meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
Director Ashack explained that after 14 years the standards have been met for the
Quarry Bluff Lift Station property. Board Member Saegesser made the motion to
authorize Mayor Moore to sign the Deed of Public Dedication for the Quarry Bluff Lift
Station property, second by Board Member Orem, passing on a vote of 2-0.
Director Ashack next explained the need for License Agreement For Underground
Pipelines Cables, and Conduits between Louisville & Indiana Railroad Company and City

of Jeffersonville Wastewater. Board Member Saegesser made the motion to authorize
Director Ashack to enter into the agreement, second by Board Member Orem, passing
on a vote of 2-0.
ENGINEERING REPORTS
Josh Darby presented and reviewed Jeffersonville Sanitary Sewer Projects Status
Report June 1, 2023. Following discussion regarding the Twilight Golf Course property,
Board Member Saegesser made the motion to authorize Director Ashack to order an
appraisal and JTL to provide the easement descriptions, second by Board Orem, passing
on a vote of 2-0.
Justin Ramirez presented and reviewed Lochmueller Group Engineering Report
dated 5/30/2023. It was reported the DTWWTP clarifiers are showing signs of wear.
These will be inspected to determine what can be done.
DEPARTMENT REPORT
Director Ashack reviewed the May 2023 WWTP Flows.
ATTORNEY COMMENTS
Board Attorney Gillenwater informed the Board the date of December 5, 2023 has
been scheduled for the Excel court case.
BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS - No Comments This Meeting.

Saegesser mad- he motio to adjourn at 3:14 P.M., second by Board Member Orem,
passing on vote of 2-0. he next regular meeting is scheduled for June 15, 2023.
