BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
WHEREAS, the Indiana Department of Transportation and the Kentucky
Transportation Cabinet have commissioned a study of the feasibility of a roadway and
bridge extending Interstate 265 to spanl the Ohio River at the Jeffersonville/Louisville
Metropolitan Area; and
WHEREAS, the decision to construct or not to construct such a bridge would
dramatically affect the accessibility to and economy of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana;
and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville is composed of
representatives of the citizens of Jeffers~nville who are obliged to speak out in matters
which would affect their constituents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville that it would be in the best interests of the safety, health, welfare, and
quality of life of the citizens of Jeffersonville that Interstate Road 265 be extended by a
bridge connecting it from Indiana to the highway systems in the State of Kentucky and
that the members of the Common Council as the representatives of the City of
Jeffersonville are in agreement that such bridge should be built.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Common Council will take whatever
actions may be necessary to bring to fruition the construction of such a roadway extension
and bridge.
Resolved by the Common Council of Jeffersonville, Indiana on the ~2-"~ay of
February, 1992.
