Introduction of New Commissioner—Abigail Richmer_—We have a new Commissioner tonight, Bill Burns
has stepped down. Our new Commissioner is Abigail Richmer, I will turn it over to her so she can tell you a
little about herself, said Emily Dippie. Good Evening everyone,I am Abbigail Richmer, I currently am the
President of Jeffersonville Arts Alliance since 2015, a Real EstateAgent, since 2015, and I.am getting ready to
start a new challenge with Leadership Southern Indiana. I am so excited to be part of all the arts going on in
Jeffersonville.
Request for Proposals—Story Trail
Met and finished jawing and have selected 3 local students to finish up this proposal.
Name Mural Report
Jury took place last week.We received 11 submissions the struggled to narrow down, but was able to get down to 3 strong
proposals. The jury would like me to contact the artist and request some tweeks on their submissions. When are you
wanting to have final decisions be made?Asks.Sarah Young. I will email the submissions out once we receive after the
tweeks we are requesting have been made by the artists.
NoCo Mural Mile Update—Emily Dippie
It rained on day we were supposed to do this, so we pushed to this coming Saturday but we are supposed to get
rain again. So we will have to figure out what we want to do, if we get rained out again. We have discussed not
registering until day of so we know what weather is going to do that day. If anyone has any discussion please
help us with your thoughts on this please. Is there a time restraint to get this finished? Asks Sarah. No not
really, we do have to have it complete by end of year because of grant money we received. First round of sign
ups there were 350 registered, this time we have about 140. If we are going to have people register you have to
give them tie and at that point have no idea what weather is going to do. Metro United Way has been very
flexible working with us on this event but I don't feel like we can call them on a Monday and expect them to
help on Saturday.
Mlmarket Update—Emily Dippie
We well until it started to rain, and it rained a lot. I do feel better that we have a rain date set for.17t. I am
going to send something out to all of the vendors and see their thoughts of how day went. I got there a little
late, but was impressed with the turnout and people sticking around even though it was raining, said Kofi. I got
there when it started to rain, I believe people liked the fact the vendors were trying to help to keep things open
even in the rain, said Teah. I did receive several emails asking if and when we was going to have another
market, idea was received well.
Small Scale Sculptures—Emily Dippie
This has started, committee meeting scheduled for tomorrow. Will have a full committee report at August
meeting.
New Business:
Company Outcast Proposal—Marcia Ziegler & Rachel Allen
Emily introduces guests. What our goal is, is to bring theatre to the community of Jeffersonville. I believe
everyone received our power point and hopefully was able to look through it, if not we will be going over it a
little here tonight. We are a 501(C)(3) and have been about 3 years now. There are about 65 small theatre
groups throughout Metro Louisville & Southern Indiana so we wanted to be a little different. Jeff is only
community in Southern Indiana that does not have a small theatre. And Jeff is a perfect location for this. We
met with Emily about Arts district seems absolutely perfect for a small theatre. We have looked at the arts.
center and depot and we just love it. Black box theatre is what we really do, we make any space work. If we
collaborate with you we would like to have three shows. December, February 2022, and June 2022. We have
put together a budget to cover all expenses low end is about$5,000.00 high end is $8,000.00 this is the cost of
stipends, props, and the most expensive thing being the rights to the film. Emily has even mentioned having
food and drink trucks available. What do you see as attendance for the show?Asks Denise Freville. I think our
first show, people were not ready for but the next show was well attended at about 75% and the next show sold
out for three nights. Ivy Tech helps us a lot by printing fliers and sending out emails to their contacts. Do you
have an introductory workshop or anything to get kids interested? Asks Sarah. We have an easier time casting
kid shows than adults. Emily thanks them for coming and states commissioners will be discussing this now
and she will reach out. So right now only one show will be coming out of our 2021 budget the other two will
come out of 2022 budget. First show budget amount is $1,400.00, says Emily. Kofi makes a motion to
collaborate with Company Outcast for little theatre performances, seconded by Sarah, motion passes
unanimously.
Received grant from Indiana Arts Alliance for$5,000.00 for Sticky Note project. I am currently waiting on Mike Kelly
for quote for the template design. So who would like to come on as committee members? Sarah Young and Abbigail
Richmer both volunteered.
Library—Book Giveaway—Emily Dippie
The Library would-like to collaborate with us to give every child a free book that gets their first library card. So I asked
them about giving them a coloring book too. They liked the idea. There is no cost to this project since we already have
coloring books printed. Kofi makes motion to donate coloring books to Library to be given away free with every book,
seconded by Sarah, motion carries unanimously.
Digital Gallery Update—Emily Dippie
Arts Alliance secured a grant for$10,000.00 and I have found a distributor, LSI for a digital board. They are
55" Samsung screens with cabinet as part of deal. We can design templates for what we want to have on screen.
We can do videos but there is no audio. Screen is single sided. Comes with 5 year white glove warranty, which
means, if we have a screen get broken they replace it within 24 hours. Each screen cost is $7,000.00, in budget
we allotted$30,000.00 for this project, so looking at the numbers we will be able to purchase fours screens
instead of just three.
I will be meeting Wednesday to discuss more details, but this distributor seems to be on board with this idea. I
just need some volunteers to be on a committee. Kofi, Rosey, &Denise volunteered to be on committee.
With nothing further to come before the board meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
