Passes unanimously. Request for proposals update—Status and Roll out—Emily Dippie Story Trail—Received 26 stories for RFP. I have had an issue of getting them converted over to a jury. Thank you to everyone that emailed back to be part of the jury. If you are thinking now you would like to be part of the jury please get with me. John and I have been discussing having a structure for the jury for story trail since this will be a lengthy process. You will be receiving the submissions blind and a rubric to score and get tops to discuss at the meeting. For whomever scores the highest we will be changing out the story trail and will be publishing online two other submissions. Small Scale Sculptures—Report from Jury—Emily Dippie At the last meeting we hadn't juried this yet, but we did get a jury together and selected an Artist, Amanda Hornback. I do have some images to show you guys. I will throw this out to anyone on the jury. It was a fun thing to jury and it was a very hard decision, says Denise Fraville. I was really blown away with the submissions, very gratifying and I hope we are able to incorporate some of the other artist is a future project, says Susan Harrison. Name Mural RFP We talked about this last meeting. This is the mural in the alley way of NOCO, last meeting we voted on the stipend of $7,000.00. We discussed at last meeting to check history of projects of this magnitude and how much stipend was authorized. I did check back and all other projects received a stipend of$5,000.00. So I.lowered this one to match what had been previously done and released the RFP. This still has some time left before closing, but we have had some really good submissions. Creative Impact Class—Tammy Burke—Emily Dippie We had this class weekend before last, fabric dying class. Had about 30 participants. We had multiple people ' attend and ask how to get further involved. New Business: NoCo Mural Mile Update—Emily Dippie This has been a really exciting project. Cheryl Ullrich Barnett was selected to create this path. We put this out for people to register and I was hoping for about 75 people but as of this morning we have 337 community people wanting to come out and paint this Saturday. Previously I really only thought we would cover 1/3 of the path but we are going to be able to cover entire path in one day. Financially things did change due to the amount of people. We have received a grant for$4,000.00 for this project, but with the amount of people and supplies needed this project is going to cost a little over $10,000.00 but we are going to get the whole project finished. When I realized the amount of people that wanted to volunteer but we need workers to do registration to oversee community members, and passing out water and snacks. I reached out to Metro United Way and they have secured me 17 volunteers. We are needing 6 more people to make this work the 12 -2 or 2-4 time period. During this time period it will be starting to wind down but will still have a lot of things to do. Are we still on for the night before, asks Susan Harrison. Emily says, yes we are thank you. I will be signing up for the 12-2 time slot on Saturday, says Kofi Darku. With 300 people painting we can't have everyone painting at the same time or it would be chaos. So we have reached out and broke them up into groups of 100. But I was hoping people would stick around and watch and engage in the district. I have emailed the vendors that signed up for Mlmarket and as of this morning I have 7 vendors that will set up and have a mini vendor market. I also have a button maker and face painters for the event. On a lucky turn of chance the Vintage Fire Museum wanted to do an open house so they were really excited to partner with us on this day. Mlmarket Update—Emily Dippie Coming together really well. As of right now we have 40 vendors coming to vend. We have 470 people on facebook saying they are interested in coming to the event. Denise has made us some yard signs and fliers to display. If you are willing to display a flier in your area please let me know and I will get you one or feel free to stop by NOCO and picked some up. We have 4 food vendors and I am still working on an alcohol vendor. I am looking for a local bar or brewery for this event. Small Scale Sculptures—Emily Dippie I have images to show you guys, some more finalized images. Amanda has created this character named Jeffrey. Jeffrey will be traveling from Waterfront area to NOCO water tank. He is going in various types of transportation and will be participating in various experiences along the way. This proposal is multi media. Will be a very colorful experience. Jeffrey will be dressed up for Halloween as a Dragon and Jeffiey rocking out at the River Stage. From a work standpoint what we need to do to finalize this project is select locations for the sculptures. We will need an inaugural event for the start of this. I would love if JPAC members would come on board with me to in a more nitty gritty role to work on this project. I want to bring on Commissioners that are interested in a more detailed role for this. Helping set the route for Jeffrey to travel and secure the locations. I definitely want to help, said Sarah Young. I have contacts with the local Downtown businesses to help out down there, says Rose Callahan. Do you know when the unveiling will be, asks Sarah Young. Emily said somewhere around Mid August NoCO Logo Mural Request for proposal—Emily Dippie I was approached by CASI, and they have an event before school starts this year. The event this year is scheduled for July 24 and they have reached out to see if JPAC would be interested in doing a make and take event for this. I am asking for a Commissioner to step up and take care of this if you choose to move forward on this. With it being so close to MIlVlarket I will not have the time to put into this. If a commissioners chooses to take this over I will help you facilitate. I have a question, says Susan Harrison, is this something the Jeffersonville Arts Alliance do? So since we were the ones approached I have not reached out to JAA, says Emily. So they want us to man a table for a craft at a one time event, asks Sarah Young. Give it some thoughts folks and we will discuss again, says John McCarthy. Digistal Gallery Update—Emily Dippie Exciting announcement, this is a project we discussed at beginning of year and hasn't been discussed much since then. This will be a very expensive project. Putting in a 365 days a year art gallery. Reached.out to Art Alliance and they are able to secure a grant for$10,000.00 on top of our budget for this project. This will not be starting until the fall. What kind of commitment or contract would we need to determine ownership of this project, asks Susan Harrison. Emily says we will have full ownership/control over everything, they just want to work with us on this. Commissioner's Comment Bill Burns: Did we adopt an electronic policy for our group? No, says Emily but we need to look into that and bring up for next month. Bill says,we can always adopt the same policy as the City Council adopted. Susan Harrison says, I prefer in person meetings but would like to have the option to dial in if needed, like if someone is out of town or something. Looks like we will be in person.in July but will be voting on policy at that meeting to move forward.
