ORDINANCE APPROVING INTERLOCAL COOPERATION AGREEMENT FOR THE
OPERATION OF THE JEFFERSONV!LLE-CLARK COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER
WHEREAS, significant discussion has taken place during
1990 and 1991 regarding the joint funding responsibility of the
various political subdivisions utilizing the
Jeffersonville-Clark County Animal Shelter; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council has successfully negotiated a
financing agreement within an interlocal cooperation agreement
with these various political' subdivisions which will equitably
spread the cost burden of running the shelter for the
foreseeable future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of
the City of Jeffersonvil%e that it hereby approves the
interlocal cooperation agreement for the operation of the

Jeffersonville, Clark
Jeffersonville-Clark County Animal Shelter and further hereby
authorizes the Mayor and the Common Council President to
execute the same in their official capacities.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its
timely passage, promulgation and approval by the Mayor.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
Enclosed you will find two (2) copies of the Interlocal
Cooperation Agreement which was approved by the Common Council
of the City of Jeffersonville by ordinance at the regular
meeting on March 4, 1991. I believe it embodies the terms
which we mutually agreed to at our last meeting in January.
I tried to keep this document fairly simple as I believe that

the current operational arrangement has worked for all
concerned and we simply want to set forth the financial
agreements between the parties as to the funding of the
service.
I would request that you place this matter on the agenda of
your next regular meeting and approve the Interlocal
Cooperation Agreement by ordinance if you deem this document
acceptable. If you or your attorneys have any problems with
the substantive provisions of this agreement please contact me
at once to discuss the same. At any rate, once this agreement
is approved please have the proper persons execute it in full
and return one (1) copy to me. Once I have all the original
signature pages attached to an original contractual document I
will circulate a fully executed copy to all concerned.
In addition, I believe it would be reasonable to assume the
monthly payments for 1991 to be due and payable at the end of
each month, and would further request that each political
subdivision as a party to this agreement bring their balance
owing current at your earliest possible convenience. All
checks should be made payable to the City of jeffersonville and
forwarded to the office of the Clerk-Treasurer.
