April 12, 2021 John McCarthy called the meeting to order at 5:34 p.m. Attendees: Emily Dippie John McCarthy Denise Freville Kofi Darku Teah Williams-Hampton Susan Harrison Sarah Young Rosy Callahan Andy Crouch Old Business: Approve Minutes from JPAC Meeting—March 8, 2021 meeting- Kofi Darku makes motion to approve minutes, seconded by Susan Harrison, roll call vote taken. Motion carried unanimously. Tik Tok Competition—Analytics and Reflection We had 10 submissions—we reached 10,234 people and now have 73 new followers. On Instagram our profile is up 27%. On Facebook we received 400 views. This competition cost us only$30.00 due to That's My Dog and Union Game Yard providing the prize. Our social media grew tremendously. This really was an awesome experience to.judge. The videos warm my heart because it's been so long since we had been involved with the community,said Sarah Young. This was such a fun event, and has expanded our reach. The Tik Toks that scored the highest were great. Emily awesome job! Said Korfi Darku. I have been posting one Tik Tok a day to facebook until I get all of them posted, said Emily Dippie Photo Biennial Participation Update—Ivy tech Collaboration I touched base with someone we worked with previously from Ivy Tech, she wants to partner with us again on this event. John McCarthy asked,will this be at the NAC in September and October right? Yes, said Emily Dippie that is correct. How does that work? Just weekends or what? Asked Sarah Young. As we get closer there will be more details and we will get them to you. Request for Proposal(s)Update—Status and Roll out The Wayfinding closes this Friday, we have 3 submissions but have spoke with 2 other artists and they plan to submit before Friday. We have received good media coverage on the proposals this time. Shakespeare in the Park Update—Advertising Assistance (flyers &yard signs) April 24 @ 7:00 p.m. at Big 4 Station. I have some yard signs the Arts Alliance bought for us,I would love for people to come by Art Center to pick up and put in your yard. We also have fliers. Fliers are on front desk area and yard signs will be at the NAC tomorrow morning. Are we doing anything that requires volunteers for Shakespeare in the Park to serve refreshments or anything? Asked Sarah Young. After speaking with our safety director we are not serving any refreshments due to COVID,said Emily Dippie. New Business: NAC Update New Artists—Jesse Fox—Photographer now has a studio at the NAC. Jenny one of our artists is doing a swap shop, Mallachi Green is going to be doing art classes again soon. And we have other Artist wanting in the NAC. So things are for sure moving in the right direction. Community Collaboration: Library Seed Project I was contacted by Library about a month ago, they are starting a seed share with community. They have a cabinet they put seeds in for anyone to pick up. Library is wanting to paint this cabinet and said they will do a $300.00 stipend for an artist if JPAC matches it. So at this time I am asking if we can match the$300.00 stipend. Susan Harrison makes motion to partner with Library for seed cabinet and match$300.00 stipend for Artist, seconded by Rosy Callahan, motion carried unanimously. Community Registration Documents Ready to Roll out(Approval) Working on name and advertising, I thought about"NOCO Mural Mile" paint by numbers. I talked with Wesbanco and their parking lot will be the home base check in at 8:00 a.m.—,because in June it is hot,we will send people out and then come back to Art Center at 1:30 p.m. for "Celebration"working on getting volunteers now but if anyone would like to come hangout please do so. Denise, Susan, Kofi, and Sarah all agreed to volunteer. Teah if you want to do check in booth we will need someone for that. I will help at check in too said Rosy. Pop Up market will be on Michigan Avenue on July 10 at 6:00 p.m.—dark. Abigail Richmer, Jeff Arts Alliance are selling rain barrels, Maker 13 is doing a make and take, so something you will make right there and take with you. Preston Art Center, store will be open and have demonstrations. We can fit 50 vendors, food trucks, friendly to City, and I am currently working on alcohol permit. I am thinking of charging $25.00 booth fee, because I feel like people needs to have a little skin in the game will more than likely show up, says Emily. Sarah asks, do we have any entertainment planned? I have thought about that,we just get into a lot of liability and expenses, says Emily. There is a sub group of VA VA Vixens, people walking around on stilts and things like that, said Sarah. We still need a name for the Market so if anyone can think of something please forward to me, says Emily. Discussion of Voice of Culture Video Spoke with Promedia, for a 3-5 minute video it will be$3,900.00. Also spoke with Mark Maxwell can do a 3-4 hour event for$1,500.00. When you describe the options the second one seems to be better option even though they have to go to Maxwell's says Susan. Sarah,.I agree 100%. How soon do you need to move forward with this? Asks John. I was thinking late May, early June. I can get with whomever we decide to use and get a more candid discussion,said Emily. Sarah says, I think we should vote on our options and I am totally on board with Maxwell's. John,I like supporting local. Susan makes motion to allow Emily to move forward and speak with Maxwell's House of Music,seconded by Kofi, motion carried unanimously. Granting Update JAC money has been received. I applied for Art Project Support Grant—find out in June Walmart Community Support Grant—no deadline Community Foundation of Southern Indiana—find out end of May I am currently writing three more grants now,will find out throughout the year Commissioner's Comment Susan—you haven't missed a beat, Kudos to you Emily for everything John—If you think of name for Market on Michigan please get them to Emily as soon as possible. Emily—I appreciate everything you all do as Commissioners.
