'4 fill 7/At 4\ (T1 re JEFFERSONVILLE PUBLIC AR COMMISSION Jeffersonville Public Art Commission NoCo Art Center October 21, 2019 Ed Zastawny called the meeting to order at 5:31 pm. Attendees: Ed Zastawny Dawn Spyker John McCarthy Susan Harrison Paul Northam Denise Freville Kofi Darku Deborah Henderson Rosy Callahan Guests: Andy Crouch Richard Eklund Abigail Richmer Heather Rapp Old Business Approval of minutes from September 9th, 2019— Motion by Paul Northam, 2nd by Deborah Henderson—all voted to approve Review of September's events: Dawn presented a Powerpoint of various events— Neighborhood sculpture Trail Procedure document was distributed to the Commissioners Lion and Oxen bollards and uplighting will be installed soon. Creative Impact Calligraphy Event was rescheduled to December 6th due to an artist conflict Indiana Arts Homecoming Event is the end of this week. Dawn,Kofi,John, and Andy are attending. Dawn gave a tour of the new renovations of the Art Center. 02004/) New Business Dawn discussed the upcoming Long Range Plan event to be held at the Carriage House on November 7th,with Jack Becker. All were asked to RSVP to Dawn's email. She gave a short overview of what to expect at the event. She asked for assistance in setting up for the event on November 6th Dawn gave an overview of the Gingerbread Workshop that is scheduled for November 8th. She asked for assistance from the Commissioners in prepping for the event on Monday,Oct.28th. Dawn distributed hardcopy drafts of Jack Becker's Long Range Plan to the Commissioners. She read through the document with everyone and commissioners documented edits page by page,she asked each Commissioner to send comments/questions/concerns/edits to Jack Becker directly(via his email)by this upcoming Wednesday. Dawn led the Commissioners through visioning pages regarding the 2020 JPAC Program Plan. The topics were generated months prior by Commissioner feedback as well as community input. The topics were broken up into the following 6 visioning pages(each red topic was a different visioning page): • Raise Awareness: art swag, mail chimp or constant contact, year long brochure,finalize and publish Google map, citywide artworks/elements&principles of art coloring book, tourism magazine, partner portal(through SoIN tourism), monthly master calendar, more instagram &facebook events&posts, seek and find something around town • Public Engagement Initiatives: continue with creative impact series(editing some events), mobile stage, mobile art unit, and labyrinth activation perhaps a day focused on mindfulness • Public Art Commissions: High$->10,000 and up...Chappell Lake Park inflatable art, round about sculpture on east end,sculptures on large pedestals in Big 4 Park, underpass art Medium$->5,000 to 9,500.... Crosswalks on spring street and in NoCo,Continuing floodwall murals/traditional side OR look into another area,art install at new elementary, murals in NoCo (Michigan St. Gallery),sculptural drinking fountain in NoCo,Story Trail, gateway arches/entry point pieces into noco,sculptural clock Low$->$100 to 4,500.....Emerging author series(pair with news and trib,drum circle, pop up stage, pop up gallery, knit bomb trees/fences • 2020 Events:Abbey Road,Shakespeare in the Park, Sugar Skull, Steamboat Nights, Steam Fest, Holiday Market • NoCo ARTS CENTER Specific:Artist studio& community space rental, artist in residence, exhibitions (elementary show/Gean Stort retrospective, 47130 show)& Phase I/Development, master calendar • NoCo ARTS DISTRICT Specific: MADE(artist/maker/inventor/dreamer market), Friends of NoCo volunteer initiative,Alleyway activation, Rosie the Riveter 5K race(Clark County Museum&JHS)PYRO night/Aqua Mania(fire museum possible partner), master calendar, custom crosswalks, mural opportunities, shipping container storage for art center extras(a must) JPAC will discuss in more detail&vote to finalize the Plan at the November JPAC meeting. 1 Commissioner Comments: Motion to adjourn by Paul Northam.
