An Ordinance Funding Local Not-for-Profits, for Specific Projects
Addressing Needs and Services for Jeffersonville Homeless.
Whereas, the Jeffersonville City Council is vested with the statutory
duty of oversight of the city's finances;
Whereas, the City of Jeffersonville (hereinafter "City") is desirous of
partnering with local not-for-profit entities to proactively address the issues
faced by the homeless individuals;
Whereas, the City believes issues surrounding homelessness is a
quality of life issues as well as an economic development issue;
Whereas, the City wants to utilize Economic Development dollars
as an ongoing funding source to meet this need;
Therefore:
I. Funding with EDIT Dollars
A. $50,000of the EDIT dollars will be considered at budget
time, to be transferred into the "homeless Needs and Services N/R Fund"
at the beginning of each year;
B. At the first City Council meeting of May and September, the
City Council will review each "Attachment A" for the consideration of
funding the request;

C. Each not-for-profit receiving funding shall provide a report to
the City Council no later than one year from receipt of funds.
VII: EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, approval of the Mayor
and publication in accordance with the law.
