REGULAR MEETING
JULY 9, 2019
The Jeffersonville Police Merit Commission meeting was called to order on July 9, 2019 at 5:00
P.M. in the city Council Chambers, First Floor, 500 Quartermaster Court,Jeffersonville, Indiana.
President Jeremy Snelling called the meeting to order with the following in attendance: President
Jeremy Snelling, Vice-President Robert Campbell, Scott Aldridge, Bonnie Deppert, Attorney Robert
Bottorff and Patty Rush. Absent was Buddy Parker.
Invocation was given by Vice-President Campbell.
A promotion celebration of the following Officers was in attendance along with their family and
certificates presented by Chief Kavanaugh ,Assistant Chief McVoy and congratulated by the Police Merit
Commission.
Chris Grimm promoted to Captain which was effective May 1, 2019
Ron Todd promoted to Lieutenant which was effective April 17, 2019
Isaac Parker promoted to Lieutenant which was effective April 16, 2019
Greg Sumler promoted to Lieutenant which was effective on May 1, 2019
Drew Lydon promoted to Corporal which was effective on May 1, 2019
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
President Snelling presented the minutes from June 11, 2019 meeting, asking if there were any
additions or corrections. Mr. Campbell made a motion to approve the minutes as presented and
seconded by Ms. Deppert. Voted 4-0
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
Assistant Chief McVoy addressed the Commission regarding certification of the inexperienced
hiring list. There were 27 applicants that have passed all the scoring categories including written,
interviewing, physical and any adjustments deemed necessary and the list will stay in effect for a total of
2 years. Assistant Chief McVoy requested that the Commission certify the list for the hiring list. Ms.
Deppert made a motion to certify the inexperienced hiring list of candidates for the Jeffersonville Police
Department and seconded by Mr. Campbell. Voted 4-0
Assistant Chief McVoy requested the next 3 names form promotion to Corporal from the eligible
list which will be effective as of August 1, 2019. The next 3 names from the list as follows:
1. Shawn LeaveII which will be effective August 5, 2019
2. Justin Salisbury which will be effective August 6, 2019
3. Jeffrey Gordon which will be effective August 7, 2019
Mr. Campbell made a recommendation to the Administration for Promotion of the names listed and
motion to approve with a second from Ms. Deppert. Voted 4-0
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
Corporal Daniel Harbin thanked the Commission for all their dedication and all they do for the
Police Department.
CLAIMS:
President Snelling presented a claim from Patty Rush, Invoice 2019-07 in the amount of$100.00.
Mr. Campbell made a motion to approve the claim for$100.00 and seconded by Ms. Deppert.
Voted 4-0
ADJOURNMENT:
Mr. Campbell made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:30 P.M. and second by Ms. Deppert.
Our next meeting will be held on September 10, 2019 at 5:00 P.M.
