REPORT OF THE COUNCIL ATTORNEY Nothing at this time. PUBLIC COMMENTS: Nancy Eklund -1608 Flintlock Dr.—At the previous Council Meeting there was a discussion regarding the Council's funding for JNLA and their National Night Out event. It was suggested that the Council should pull their funding for JNLA because of insinuations that the organization was political in nature. She and her husband, Richard have been active members ofJNLA since its inception 7 years ago in January of 2012 during Mayor Galligan last term in office. They attended the Jeffersonville Neighborhood Alliance institute put forth by Clarence Hall. These classes gave the attendees insight into many of the City departments, political parties, and volunteer opportunities. JNLI was promoted as a program that would connect neighborhood leaders to local government and public entities to produce positive change in the communities. JNLA strives to enhance the quality of life of all Jeffersonville residents by promoting neighborhood improvements. Their largest event is National Night Out. The City Council funding is used to secure items for this event. The aim of the National Night Out is to connect neighborhoods with their leaders and safety personnel. Their meetings are always nonpartisan in nature. COUNCIL COMMENTS: Councilperson White—No comment. Councilperson Jahn—Happy St. Patrick's Day. Councilperson Maples—No comment. Councilperson Hawkins—Congratulations to Jeffersonville High School for being sectional champs. Councilperson Owen—He has been approached regarding his stipend for the Parks Authority.
