REGULAR MEETING
FEBRUARY 12, 2019
The Jeffersonville Police Merit Commission meeting was called to order on February 12, 2019 at
5:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers, First Floor, 500 Quartermaster Court,Jeffersonville, Indiana.
President Jeremy Snelling called the meeting to order with the following in attendance: President
Jeremy Snelling,Vice-President Robert Campbell, Bonnie Deppert, Scott Aldridge, Attorney Robert
Bottorff and Patty Rush. Absent was Buddy Parker.
Invocation was given by Vice-President Robert Campbell
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
President Snelling presented the minutes from January 8, 2019 meeting, asking if there were
any additions or corrections. Mr. Campbell made a motion to approve the minutes as presented and
seconded by Mr. Aldridge. Voted 4-0
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
Assistant Chief McVoy addressed the Commission in regard to an update on the current
inexperienced hiring list. He presented a letter from Chief Kavanaugh requesting to receive the names
of candidate's number 14, 15, 16 and 17 on the certified applicant hiring list for the positions of
Jeffersonville Police Department. This will be to fill vacancies with the agency, staffing the department
accordingly with the transitions of this year being 2019. The names requested were #14 Chris
Southerland, #15 Justin M. Raley,#16 Zachary M. Ruoff and #17 John G. Pate. Mr. Aldridge made a
motion to approve the request and seconded by Mr. Campbell. Voted 4-0
Assistant Chief McVoy advised that on February 22 is the cutoff for applications for Experienced
Police Officers. At that time, we will set up a time for interviews and a list to be conducted at the
Jeffersonville Police Department.
Assistant Chief McVoy advised the Commission that a Retirement Party for Dave Marble and
Garry Pavey will be held on Thursday, February 14th at the Police Department. At our March 12th
meeting, the Corporals and Sergeants will be recognized for their promotions.
CLAIMS:
President Snelling presented Invoice#2019-02 from Patty Rush in regard to Regular Meeting
held on February 12, 2019 in the amount of$100.00. Mr. Campbell made motion to approve the claim
and seconded by Mr. Aldridge. Voted 4-0
There will be a scheduled sub-committee meeting for evaluation for the Police Officers
regarding promotions. Those on committee are Mr. Aldridge, President Snelling,Assistant Chief McVoy
and Captain Hubbard. A date will be scheduled later.
ADJOURN:
Mr. Campbell made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:45 P.M. and seconded by Mr.
Aldridge. Our next meeting will be held on March 12, 2019.
