HomeMy WebLinkAboutPMC SPECIAL MEETING DECEMBER 27, 2018 JEFFERSONVILLE POLICE MERIT COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING DECEMBER 27, 2018 The Jeffersonville Police Merit Commission Special Meeting was held on December 27, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. in Attorney Robert Bottorff's office,410 E. Court Avenue,Jeffersonville, Indiana. Vice- President Robert Campbell called the meeting to order with the following in attendance: Vice-President Robert Campbell, Buddy Parker, Scott Aldridge, Attorney Robert Bottorff and Patty Rush. Absent were President Jeremy Snelling and Bonnie Deppert who attended later. Guest Attorneys were Larry Wilder, Zack Stewart, David Mosley and Andrew Duncan from Indianapolis. Invocation was given by Vice-President Robert Campbell OLD BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS: In regard to the Assistant Chief McVoy presented a letter from Chief Kenny Kavanaugh in regard to Promotions (1) Corporal to the rank of Sergeant and (2) Patrolman to the rank of Corporal. Mr. Aldridge made a motion to approve the first three (3) names on the Corporal List to be promoted from Patrolman. They are: (1) Shaune Davis, (2)Alyssa Wright, and (3) Aaron Olson. Mr. Aldridge made a motion to approve the first three (3) names on the Promotion Eligibility List for Corporal and seconded by Mr. Parker. Voted 3-0 Mr. Aldridge made a motion to approve the first three (3) names from Corporal to Sergeant Eligibility List. They are (1)Jason Gibson, (2) Samuel Moss and (3) Richard Ashabranner. Mr. Aldridge made a motion to approve the first three (3) names on the Promotional List and seconded by Mr. Parker. Voted 3-0 It was a formal request the name of Corporal Jason Gibson to be promoted to the next rank of Sergeant from the Sergeants promotional list. Mr. Aldridge made a motion to approve Corporal Jason Gibson to the rank of Sergeant and seconded by Mr. Parker. Voted 3-0 Chief Kavanaugh requested the name first of Patrolman Shaune Davis and secondly Patrolman Alyssa Wright, both being promoted to the rank of Corporal. Patrolman Davis is currently assigned to the Detective Division having a special assignment to the F.B.I. Safe Streets Task Force as a Task Force Officer. Patrolman Wright is filling the vacancy from Corporal Gibson moving to the next rank of Sergeant. The above names are requested from the appropriate and corresponding promotional list by Chief Kavanaugh, per the state statue and the Jeffersonville Police Merit Commission Rules. Mr. Aldridge made a motion to approve the request from Chief Kavanaugh and seconded by Mr. Parker. Voted 3-0 The issue of whether the commission will grant the motion filed by Rebecca Moses' counsel regarding stay of the disciplinary action/continuance of the hearing dates that are currently scheduled which are January 8,9 and 10 at 5:00 P.M. Vice-President Campbell states that they wanted to go ahead with the hearing starting January 8,2019 in Circuit 4 Court Room at 501 E. Court Avenue. At that time, all the members should be present and can make determination at that time regarding Officer Rebecca Moses. Mr.Aldridge made a motion to not to exceed the hearing dates but continue with the scheduled dates and seconded by Mr. Parker. Voted 3-0 ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Parker made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:25 P.M. and seconded by Mr.Aldridge. Kenneth Kavanaugh, formally request the name of Cpl.Jason Gibson to be promoted to the next rank of Sergeant from the Sergeants promotional list.The next request is coming from the promotional list of Corporals with the two officers identified below. Next, I am requesting the name first of Ptl. Shaune Davis, and secondly Ptl. Alyssa Wright, both being promoted to the rank of Corporal. Ptl. Davis is currently assigned to the Detective Division having a special assignment to the F.B.I. Safe Streets Task Force as a Task Force Officer. Ptl. Wright is filling the vacancy from Cpl. Gibson moving to the next rank of Sergeant.
