HomeMy WebLinkAboutPA AUGUST 27,2017 Jeffersonville Parks Authority Monday, August 27, 2018 The Jeffersonville Parks Authority met in a session in the Mayor's Conference room, City Hall, Jeffersonville, IN on August 27, 2018. Members Present: President, Bill Burns, Matt Owen,Josh Kornberg, Mark Munzer, Scot Haire. Scot Haire has been appointed to Board in place of Lisa Stemler that resigned. Approval of Agenda Member Kornberg made MOTION to approve the agenda for August 27, 2018 Park's Authority Meeting, the motion SECONDED by Member Owen. The motion PASSED on a vote of 5-0. Approval of Minutes Member Kornberg made a MOTION to approve the minutes from July 23, 2018 Park's Authority Meeting, the motion was SECONDED by Member Owen. Motion PASSED on a vote of 5-0. Let the record reflect Member Tracy Ames and Member Larry Jordan came into meeting voting strength is now 7. Old Business Burns Fieldhouse Update—Workers are well within their deadline. Should be finished Mid 2020. Working on brick colors in order to keep the historic look of the building. Ridings—Fire Alarm System—Amber Ridings presented a contract for monitoring only. At this time there is no contract and no monitoring. This contract is$499.00 for the year and is for monitoring and cheaper service calls, if service call is needed it will be $85.00. Member Kornberg made MOTION to approve contract, Seconded by Member Munzer, motion APPROVED by a vote of 7-0. Burns—Optimist Club—President Burns stated everyone had been able to tour the facility and feel the building needs multiple repairs. So many repairs the Board does not feel it is feasible to take on such a task. Counsel Merkley said the administration had spoken to the Optimist Club Board and informed them the City was not going to be able to take over the building. New Business Northam/Ridings—Riverstage Contracts—The Drowsies, Party Central, Hush Harbor&Chaotic All contracts were brought before the Board for approval except for The Drowsies. The Drowsies will not be playing at Steamboat Nights due to a band member being ill. MOTION to Approve contracts for Party Central, Hush Harbor, & Chaotic made by Member Kornberg, SECONDED by Member Ames, motion CARRIED by a vote of 7-0. Director's Report Manager Reports—Olivia Mann,Aquatic Center Director stated Labor Day Weekend is the final weekend at the pool and the Pooch plunge will be on September 8, 2018. It has been a great season for the aquatic center. Ken Ellis Center will be going on a "Fieldtrip" to Churchill Downs in November. Ricky Romans—WAC- Saturday at WAC went well, CCSA played, Boise College played, and Kentuckiana played. With no complaints. Tuesday,Thursday, & Friday will be softball nights. League begins week of August 27, 2018. End of September Basketball Leagues will begin, leagues run 10 weeks, at end of 10 weeks there will be a single elimination tournament. Senior leagues run through February. Donnie Poole—Maintenance—2 biggest weeks of the year are coming up, Steamboat Nights and Wing Ding at the Wharf Catfish Tournament. The Catfish tournament is going to have: Country concert on Friday evening, September 14, 2018, vendor booths, kids fishing rodeo. Also, on Saturday, September 15, 2018 the first 50 kids to check in will receive a free fishing pole from Cabela's. Sara Simpson—Riverstage—Country concert series and Twilight Cinema has concluded for the year. Had a great season and look forward to next season. Have extended Zumba and Pound classes through September. Will conclude Zumba season with a Zumba glow at end of September. Director's Report Amber Ridings—Interim Parks Director—Paul Northam will be going to Southern Indiana Rehab 5 days a week to get his strength back from having open heart surgery. Home of Champions dedication will be September 1, 2018, Recognizing Ray Parella and Don Durbin. We have taken out all dead trees, filled with dirt, and seeded again. Hope to have it finished by event time. Amber requested to have a meeting with whomever is involved with Boys &Girls club building.
