HomeMy WebLinkAboutPMC JUNE 12, 2018 JEFFERSONVILLE POLICE MERIT COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING JUNE 12, 2018 The Jeffersonville Police Merit Commission meeting was called to order on June 12, 2018 at 5:00 P.M. in the City Council's Chambers, First Floor, 500 Quartermaster Court,Jeffersonville, Indiana. Vice- President Robert Campbell called the meeting to order with the following in attendance: Vice-President Robert Campbell, Bonnie Deppert, Scott Aldridge, Buddy Parker,Attorney Robert Bottorff and Patty Rush. Absent was President Jeremy Snelling. Invocation was given by Robert Campbell APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Vice-President Campbell presented the minutes from April 10, 2018 meeting, after explanation from Attorney Bottorff regarding some corrections. Mr.Aldridge made a motion to approve the minutes as presented and seconded by Mr. Parker. Voted 4-0 Vice-President Campbell presented the minutes from May 16, 2018 meeting, asking if there were any corrections or additions. Mr. Parker made a motion to approve the minutes as presented and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Voted 4-0 OLD BUSINESS: Attorney Bottorff and Attorney Larry Wilder reminded the Commission that the Hearing date for Patrolman Kenton Makowsky with his Attorney Andrew Duncan would be held on August 2, 2018 at 5:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers. NEW BUSINESS: Chief Kenneth Kavanaugh addressed the Commission and provided the Commission with a letter dated June 12, 2018, requesting to receive the names on the new applicant list of candidate's number 7 and 8 on the available hiring list. Chief Kavanaugh provided the Commission in advance a letter requesting the candidates. Number 7 on the list is Cody J. Swearingen and number 8 listed is Seth J. Porter. Mr. Aldridge made a motion to certify number 7 and number 8 from the certified list to Chief Kavanaugh and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Voted 4-0 PUBLIC COMMENTS: Corporal Daniel Harbin extended his appreciation and thanks to the Commission for all their dedication and hard work for the Jeffersonville Police Department. CLAIMS: Vice-President Campbell presented a claim from Public Safety Medical, Invoice#00-32253 in the amount of$3,797.19, dated January 31, 2018 for Jonathan Clark,William Harris and Scott Schuchardt. Mr. Parker made a motion to approve the claim for$3,797.19 and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Voted 4-0 CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT aQy.;g�- L. This is following the request made by Lt. Col. Michael Scott McVoy on May 30, 2018, (4:58 p.m.) via electronic communications, in which Merit Commission Members acknowledged. Respectfully, Col. L. Kenneth Kavan gh Jeffersonville Police Department Chief of Police Vice-President Campbell presented a claim from Public Safety Medical, Invoice#00-32303, dated February 7, 2018 in the amount of$28.34 for Jonathan Clark on January 31, 2018. Mr. Parker made a motion to approve the claim in the amount of$28.34 and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Voted 4-0 Vice-President Campbell presented a claim for Secretary Patty Rush, Invoice#2018-06 in the amount of$100.00. Mr. Parker made a motion to approve the claim in the amount of$100.00 and seconded by Ms. Deppert. Voted 4-0 ADJOURN: Mr. Parker made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:45 P.M. and seconded by Ms. Deppert.
