BEFORE THE JEFFERSONVILLE COMMON COUNCIL
STATE OF INDIANA
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AN NBA/WNBA TEAM LOCATED IN
METRO LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY
WHEREAS, the Jeffersonville Common Council, Louisville Metro, and the surrounding
communities have demonstrated strong and longstanding support for the sport of basketball;
and
WHEREAS, Louisville Metro has the facilities to accommodate a National Basketball
Association ("NBA") team; and
WHEREAS, the Yum! Center represents one of the best arenas in the country; and
WHEREAS, the recently approved collective bargaining agreement for the NBA opens the
opportunity for NBA expansion teams; and
WHEREAS, the addition of an NBA team would bring more business for local restaurants and
hotels, therefore increasing the standard of living for Jeffersonville residents and surrounding
communities; and
WHEREAS, there would be additional tax receipts for the Louisville Metro region, specifically in
the City of Jeffersonville; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville would welcome an NBA team to Louisville Metro; and
WHEREAS. The City of Jeffersonville would welcome a WNBA team to Louisville Metro; and
WHEREAS, Louisville needs to be in a competitive position for any potential expansion
franchises; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville reinforces and reiterates Metro Louisville's resolution,
Resolution No. 010, Series 2017, welcoming a potential NBA/WNBA team;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Jeffersonville Common Council that the City of
Jeffersonville supports efforts to bring an NBA team and the economic development it would
bring to our community.

Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana.
