HomeMy WebLinkAboutMAY 30, 2018 CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS May 30, 2018 MEMBERS PRESENT: Mike Moore, Mayor, Eric Hedrick, ChiefJFD, Rob Waiz, Redevelopment Director, Clark Miles, Street Commissioner, Christy O'Neil, Executive Admin Asst to Mayor, Elisha Gibson, Utility Billing Manager, Peggy Hardaway, City Clerk Admin Asst, Len Ashack, Director of Waste Water, Matt Dyer, IT Director, Les Merkley, Corporate Counsel, Larry Wallace, Building Commissioner, Amy Huffman, Community Liaison, Paul Northam, Parks Superintendent, Shawn Grant, Assist Chief JFD, Kenny Kavanaugh, Chief JPD, Kim Calabro, HR Director, Heather Metcalf, Controller, Bill Dixon, Asst City Engineer, Amir Mousavi, Safety Director, Nathan Pruitt, Director of Planning and Zoning, Delynn Rutherford, Grant Administrator, Michael O'Brien, Code Enforcement Officer CALL TO ORDER: Mr. Moore called the meeting to order at 9:31 am APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Mr. Hedrick made the motion to APPROVE the minutes from the May 16, 2018 meeting, seconded by Mr. Waiz, motion PASSED 3-0. APPROVAL OF THE PAYROLL: Mr. Hedrick made the motion to APPROVE the payroll, seconded by Mr. Waiz, motion PASSED 3-0. OLD BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS: 1. Larry Wallace/Michael O'Brien— Hearing regarding 1413 Blackwood Court: James and Lois Black on appeal of Building Commissioner enforcement. Representative Mr. Elliot Jeffery was present at the meeting on behalf of James and Lois Black. Mr. O'Brien stated numerous letters has been sent November 2015 regarding code violation 2010-OR-30. Mr. Jeffery indicated that the bamboo was on the property when it was purchased, and also acknowledge that the he believed the owners received the letters of August and November of 2016 and May of 2018. Ordinance states weeds over 9 inches tall is in violation. Bamboo currently at 20 feet. Neighbor, Bill Gardner at 1418 Dove Drive, adjoining property was present and stated that he is the neighbor who started this process. He would like to see it brought down because his kids can no longer go out and play without being bothered with mosquitos, and birds or bats. Mr. Gardner acknowledged bamboo is on his property also and has spent $400 trying to remove it. 1 Mr. Hedrick made the motion that the owners of 1413 Blackwood Court be given 10 days to remove bamboo or the City will have it removed and charge the owners; and if the City is not paid, the City will place a lien against the property. Seconded by Mr. Kavanaugh, motion PASSED 3-0. 2. Ashlee Turner with AT&T Mobility- Request for approval to install antenna poles at 313 E Market Str and 1018 E Court Ave. Ms. Turner along with Mr. Mark Pavey was present to answer questions. These new poles will allow better reception for small cell service as well as stop interrupted service. The poles will stand approximately 32'6" with antenna at the top of each pole. Mr. Wallace indicated permits will be required. Mr. Waiz made the motion to APPOVE the new poles; Mr. Hedrick seconded, motion PASSED 3-0. 3. Kim Calabro—Request for approval of a professional services contract between the City and Brown and Brown Insurance Company. Ms. Calabro indicated that this is a renewal with a slight change. Services will be bill on an "hourly" rate. Brown and Brown will be training employees with a focus on flex spending and Medicare. Mr. Hedrick made the motion to APPROVE the contract; Mr. Waiz seconded, motion PASSED 3-0. ADJOURNMENT: With no further business for the Board of Public Works, Mr. Waiz made the motion to ADJOURN.
