APPROVAL OF AGENDA- Member Kornberg made a MOTION to approve the agenda for the April 9th 2018 special Parks Authority meeting, the motion was seconded by Member Munzer. The motion PASSED on a vote of 5-0. OLD BUSINESS- None NEW BUSINESS- Northam-Parks Assistant Director- I would like to discuss hiring an Assistant Director for the Parks Department, I would like the Parks Authority's approval before I take the request to the council. The landscape foreman that we were going to hire isn't starting until the first of May so there is 4 months of salary at about$11,000.00 that we can use and we have $85,000 in equipment that we can take $10,000.00 of out and $60,000.00 in Green Space that we are taking$10,000.00 out of and then $10,000.00 out of trees and shrubbery so there is a total of$41,000.00. The starting salary is$47,486.40 and the mid-point is closer to $52,000.00, this is where the HR director thinks that we should have the Assistant Director start. Member Ellis asked where the additional funds would come from to make up the $52,000.00? Northam stated that council person Gill stated that they would not be against funding the rest. Member Ellis stated that he is usually against having to fund projects when there is unspent money in a budget and only when a department is out of money do I want to do an addition. Director Northam asked Member Ellis are you saying that pending the funding from the Parks Department that you are okay with the hiring of an Assistant Director. Member Kornberg stated that with this being almost halfway through the year the $41,000.00 would cover the salary. Director Northam agreed that he could find the money for the rest of 2018 in his budget. Member Kornberg asked what the position would be doing? Director Northam stated that he has several projects that are on his desk that he has to keep putting off because he doesn't have time that he would give to them. They would also assist in managing the staff. Bill Burns, Parks Board President (rtfully Submitte By: Heather Penning n
