SANITARY SEWER BOARD
MINUTES OF MARCH 26, 2018
The Sanitary Sewer Board of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana met in special
session on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 3:30 P.M in the City Hall Mayor's Conference
Room. Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 3:30 P.M. Board Members present
are Mike Moore and Dale Orem. Board Member Saegesser is absent.. Also present are
Utility Director Len Ashack, City Attorney Les Merkley, and Secretary Barbara Hollis.
Board Member Orem made the motion to approve the agenda as presented,
second by Mayor Moore, passing on a vote of 2-0.
NEW BUSINESS
Director Ashack presented City of Jeffersonville, Wastewater Department,
Surcharge Implementation Policy (A Policy of the Sanitary Sewer Board of the City of
Jeffersonville Regarding the Implementation of Sewer Use Surcharges). This policy was
reviewed by Board Members and recommended revisions were made. A list of Industrial
Users was presented as was a sample Industrial Surcharge invoice. Calculations were
reviewed. This policy is limited to permitted industries. Some facilities would be exempt
from surcharges based on water quality of the discharge. Following all discussion Board
Member Orem made the motion to adopt the Surcharge Implementation Policy as
presented, second by Mayor Moore, passing on a vote of 2-0.
DEPARTMENT REPORT
Director Ashack reminded the Board about the CSO Public Meeting scheduled for
March 29, 2018 at 5:00 PM. The DOJ response letter regarding the LTCP Negotiations
was sent on March 23, 2018. Details of the IDEM/EPA site visit scheduled for April 10,
2018 were discussed. Director Ashack has prepared an agenda for the meeting and is
making transportation arrangements. Director Ashack provided a list of top billing
accounts for 2017, showing the Department income from Jeffboat. Jeffboat has
announced it will be closing soon.

OTHER BUSINESS
There being no further business to come before the Board, Board Member Orem
made the motion to adjourn at 3:38 P.M., second by Mayor Moore, passing on a vote of
2-0. The next meeting is scheduled for April 5, 2018.
