BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS MINUTES
May 3, 2017

CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Rick Lovan made the motion to APPROVE the minutes from the April 26, 2017
meeting,seconded by Rob Waiz, passing on a vote of 3-0.
APPROVAL OF THE PAYROLL: Rick Lovan made the motion to APPROVE payroll, seconded by Rob Waiz, passing on
a vote of 3-0.
OLD BUSINESS:
Sam Reid with Vectren—Request for approval of road closure of Utica-Sellersburg Rd. at East side of Highway 62
starting on Sunday, May 14 from 8:00 p.m.—5:00 a.m. each morning for approximately 5 nights thru to Friday
morning May 19, 2017 for upgrade replacement gas line installation work. Road closure will occur only an at night
and will reopen to traffic each morning after 5:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. each night. We will need one additional
night time closure tentatively on Thursday night June 1 from 8:00 p.m.to Friday morning June 2, 2017 at 5:00 a.m.
for completion of gas line retirement and road restoration work. Rob Waiz made motion to APPROVE request,
seconded by Rick Lovan, passing on a vote of 3-0.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Len Ashack—Request for approval of road closure on Spring Street at Preservation Place on Sunday, May 7,
2017 from 8:00 a.m.—4:00 p.m.for sewer repair. Motion made by Rick Lovan APPROVE request,seconded by Rob
Waiz, passing on a vote of 3-0.
2. Paul Northern—City Events Planning Board request for approval of the following events:
Shakespeare in the Park: Julius Caesar on May 19, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. Held at Big Four Park, and there will
be no road closures. Rob Waiz made motion to APPROVE,seconded by Rick Lovan, passing on a vote of 3-0.
Relay for Life on May 20, 2017 at Big Four Station, 2:00 p.m.—12:00 a.m.. Mayor said to make sure this
event is supervised so they are not putting stakes in the ground or parking on the lawn. Rick Lovan made motion
to APPROVE,seconded by Rob Waiz, passing on a vote of 3-0.
Abbey Road on the River, May 25-29 at Big Four Station, Road closures will begin on May 22, 2017 and
have been approved by Major Lynch with JPD. Rob Waiz made motion to APPROVE, seconded by Rick Lovan,
passing on a vote of 3-0.
Jeff Fest at Big Four Station,June 3, 2017. Rick Lovan made motion to APPROVE, seconded by Rob Waiz,
passing on a vote of 3-0.
Claysburg Reunion Festival,August 4&5, 2017 at Lansden Park,only City services requested if trash can
and restroom trailer. Rob Waiz made motion to APPROVE,seconded by Rick Lovan, passing on a vote of 3-0.
ADJOURNMENT: No further business of the BPW meeting adjourned at 9:5JA. .
