BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS MINUTES
JANUARY 3, 2017

CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 9:35 A.M.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Councilperson Owen made the motion to APPROVE the minutes from the
December 28, 2016 meeting,seconded by Mr. Waiz, passing on a vote of 3-0.
APPROVAL OF THE PAYROLL: Councilperson Owen made the motion to APPROVE the payroll,seconded by Mr.
Waiz, passing on a vote of 3-0.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Rick Lovan—Discussion of block watch signs in Steeplechase on Sundance and Port Fulton neighborhoods. Mr.
Lovan started the discussion that he has received calls stating the person calling has been told that he, Mr. Lovan is
in charge of the Neighborhood Watch Signs. Mr. Lovan stated that he is willing to be in charge of the signage but
needs to tell him. Discussion continued regarding JNLA(Jeffersonville Neighborhood Leadership Alliance)was
ordering the signage and was informing Street and Sanitations Department on the placement of the signage.
Mayor Moore requested by the end of the day to have a resolution on this matter. Clerk Conlin suggested Chief
Kavanaugh and herself get in-touch with Council President Gill,whom is the Chair presently of the JNLA, and find
out where the process is now and what needs addressed.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Mayor Moore—Recognition of Steve James, Donnie Griffin and Mike Arms on their retirement. Mayor Moore
presented each of the retirees with Certificates of Appreciation for the years of services to the City of
Jeffersonville. Mr. Griffin stated he was retiring after 36 years, Mr.Arms retiring after 38 years, and Mr.James
after 46 years. Mayor Moore thanked each of the men and their families for the years of services.
2. Paul Northam—Request for approval of Three(3)5K runs as follows:
Mr. Northam presented the request stating these had been approved by the Committee and to bring to the BPW
for final approval.
A.Clark County Cares on Sunday January 29, 2017 at Big Four Park from 5:00 PM and a candlelight vigil to follow.
Councilperson Owen made the motion to APPROVE,seconded by Mr.Waiz passing on a vote of 3-0.
B. Relay for Life on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Big Four Park. Mayor Moore requested of Mr. Northam that no
tents to be placed or vehicles driven at Big Four Park. Mr. Waiz made the motion to APPROVE, seconded by
Councilperson Owen passing on a vote of 3-0.

C. Jeff Pride Festival on Saturday,June 10, 2017 at Warder Park. Councilperson Owen made the motion
to APPROVE with STIPULATIONS that no negative and obscene events will be held at the festival,
seconded by Mr. Waiz passing on a vote of 3-0.
D. 22 Challenge 10K Ruck March on Saturday, March 20, 2017 at Riverside Drive. Councilperson Owen
made the motion to APPROVE, seconded by Mr. Waiz passing on a vote of 3-0.
4. Mayor Moore-427 7th Street Complaints of house next door to Buckets. Mayor Moore stated
Councilperson White has received complaints regarding the house at 427th 7th Street and requested
Nathan Pruitt and Larry Wallace to send staff out to inspect the damages.
S. Matt Owen—Street Signs at Graham. Councilperson Owen requested Mr. Miles to replace the street
signage at the corner of Graham and Court as Graham is misspelled.
ADJOURNMENT:
With no further action required from the Board Mr. Waiz made the motion to ADJOURN, seconded by
Councilperson Owen. Meeting adjourned at 10:00 A.M.
