HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-17-1990 ExcerptsEXCERPTS FROM THE COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA OCTOBER 17, 1990 The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana met in Council Chambers, in the City-County Building in Jeffersonville, Indiana, on the 17th day of October, 1990, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dale Orem. The invocation was given by Reverend Joyce Seeman. Mayor Orem asked all those present to stand and allegiance to the flag. The Jimmy Carter, Robert Waiz. pledge roll was Marie Clapp, Ron Grooms, Tony Harrod, Absent: Councilperson Andrew Williams. Other business followed: Councilperson Williams arrived at 7:40 o'clock P.M. Other business followed: Mayor Orem introduced Ordinance No. called and those present were: Councilpersons John Perkins, and 90-OR-51, An Ordinance of Additional Appropriation. Councilperson Perkins questioned the need for the additional overtime in the Fire Department. Fire Chief Collins explained this has been caused by the opening of the third firehouse, an unusual amount of sickness, a broken bone, and surgery. Councilperson Perkins feels there is a need to look at the overtime situation in the future. Chief Collins assurred Councilperson Perkins no time off is given for extra chores performed during duty hours. Following all discussion Councilperson Perkins made the motion to pass Ordinance No. 90-OR-51 on the first and second reading, seconded by Councilperson Grooms. Following further discussion, Councilperson Grooms withrew his second and Councilperson Perkins withdrew his motion. Councilperson Perkins then made the motion to suspend the rules for Ordinance~No. 90-OR-51, seconded by Councilperson Clapp, passing with a unanimous vote. Councilperson Perkins then made the motion to pass Ordinance No. 90-OR-51 on all three readings, seconded by Councilperson Clapp, passing with the following roll call vote: Ayes: Councilpersons Grooms, Harrod, Carter, Williams, Clapp, Waiz, and Perkins. Nays: None.
