A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING AND AUTHORIZING THE CERTIFICATION OF
THE JEFFERSONVILLE ARTS AND CULTURAL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Common Council for the City of Jeffersonville, Clark County Indiana
(hereinafter the "Council"), is the City's statutory Fiscal and Legislative Bodies; and
WHEREAS, the designation and certification of an Arts and Cultural District has been
proposed to assist the proposed District and community to develop a public-private
partnership to support said District; and
WHEREAS, the Council and the Mayor for the City have expressed their support for the
designation and certification of the said Arts and Cultural District; and
WHEREAS, the Indiana Arts Commission will be petitioned by the City to designate and
certify said Arts and Cultural District as a Statewide Cultural District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council for the City of
Jeffersonville:
Article 1. That the City hereby designates and certifies the area as more fully identified
and set forth in the Map attached hereto as "Exhibit A" as the "Jeffersonville Arts and
Cultural District".
Article 2. That the Jeffersonville Arts and Cultural District promotes the exploration of
and participation in the arts and humanities through cultural experiences unique to our
community.
Article 3. That the City endorses the goals of economic vitality and enhancing
community life through participating in the development and financial support of the
Jeffersonville Arts and Cultural District.
Article 4. That the City encourages all residents of our community, especially those
who own property or businesses within the Jeffersonville Arts and Cultural District, to
involve themselves and participate in the full development of the Jeffersonville Arts and
Cultural District.
Article 5. That the City will develop incentives to stimulate and encourage the vitality of
the Jeffersonville Arts and Cultural District.
Article 6. That the Jeffersonville Public Arts Commission, as established by the
Council, will be the governing board of the Jeffersonville Arts and Cultural District.

Article 7. That the City directs the city staff to actively support and cooperate with the
Jeffersonville Public Arts Commission to develop, maintain and encourage the
economics of the arts and humanities in the Jeffersonville Arts and Cultural District.
