HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-26-1991 ExcerptsEXCERPTS FROM COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA AUGUST 86, 1991 The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in special session in Council Chambers, in the City-County Building, Jeffersonvilie, Indiana, at 7:30 P.M. on the 26th day of August, 1991. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dale Orem~ and Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr. at the desk. The roll was called and those present were Councilpersons Jimmy Carter, Marie Clapp, Ron Grooms~ Tony Harrod, John Perkins, Andrew Williams, and Robert Waiz. Absent: None. Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of August 19, 1991 as presented, seconded by Councilpereon Waiz and carried unanimously. Clerk and Treasurer Spencer presented the claim register along with additional claims for consideration by the Council. Following all discussion, Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the claims and additional claims as presented, seconded by Council President Carter and carried unanimously. Ordinance No. 91-0R-46 A, B, Cz D, E, F~ G: Hz I, J, and K was presented for the third and final reading. Mayor Orem recommended that at least $100z000 be moved tonight into Council hospitalization. Councilperson Perkins feels this decision should be left for the 1992 Council, as more will be known how the plan is working. Ma~r Orem also questioned the funding of Workmen~s Compensation as he do~s not feel this is adequate. Councilperson Clapp asked if all City employees were included in the $750 raise in salary. Clerk and Treasurer Spencer explained it appears to be the opinion of the general public the elected officials were included, however they are not. There also are a few part-time and those employed in more than one area that were not included. Mayor Orem informed the Council that the Department of Redevelopment will be making the $65,000 bond payment that is due in January, 1992. Mayor Orem explained the Sewer Department would be able to contribute $100,000 in 1992 as payment in lieu of taxes. It is his feeling that with the elimination of City Cou~t and this payment it would be a $800~000 turn around in the budget.
