The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in
regular session in Council Chambers in the City-County Building~
Jeffersonv]lle, Indiana, at 9:30 P.M. on the 6th day of August~ 1991.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dale Orem~ with
Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr. at the deek.
Mayor Dale Orem asked all those present to stand and ~oin

Clerk and Treasurer Spencer presented the claim register
along with additional claims for consideration by the Council.
Following all discussion, Councilperson Perkins made the motion to
approve the claims as presented along ~ith the additional~ eeconded by
Council President Carter and carried on a vote of 6-0.

Following all discussion~ Council President Carter made the
motion to suspend the rules for Ordinance No. 91-0R-45~ seconded by
Councilperson Williams and carried unanimously. Council President
Carter then made the motion to pass Ordinance No. 91-0R-45 on al!
three readings, seconded by Councilperson Williams~ passing on the
following roll call vote:

Attormey Greg Filer and Attorney Jim Williams explained the Resolution
and answered questions. This is property the State has declared
surplus property of no value. Councilperson Perkins understood the

original plans were to be in between the bridges only and he has
personally received comments regarding the demoliton of housee for
parking. Following all discussion~ Councitperson Perkins made the
motion to pass Resolution No. 9I-R-22, seconded by Councilperson
Grooms and passing unanimously.

Complete Dispersion of Said Funds For The Year 199i. Following ail
explanations and discussion~ Councilpereon Waiz made the motion to
pass Resolution No. 91-R-23, seconded by Councilperson Clapp and
carried unanimously.

Refrain From The
Council President Carter asked that the regular meeting
scheduled for August 17~ 1991 be cancelled as there will be meetings
August 19~ and ~6, 199~ concerning budgets. Attorney Filer asked the
meeting scheduled for September 3~ 1991 be rescheduled to September 9~
1991 for publication purposes. All were in agreement.
Councilperson Waiz asked Hughes Group Attorney Dan Shot~ell
to give an update on the Riverfront Project as the Corpe Of Engineers
has issued the permit. Mr. Shote~ell stated the final packe~ was
received Monday, August 5, and they are very happy to finally have
something. The fuel facility has been cut back and 58 to 60 boat elip
have been cut. They are searching thru all avenues and the clock will
start when the Corps receives the signed permit back.

Councilperson Perkins is continuing to work toward
equipment and has received bids on this. This does
appear to be
advanced equipment but he personally feels the Police need to be
prepared for the worst they could meet. Some of the more
sophieticated and expensive equipment he is hoping can be paid for
through a HUD grant. Mayor Orem believes this grant may amount to
concerned and will contact the

in the ground on Watt Street which has not been

Councilperson Grooms announced the Comprehensive Plan
Committee will meet August 14 at 9:30 with Planning and Zoning. The
public hearings will be September 9~ and 12, 1991. Councilperson
Grooms also wanted to remind all Department Heads and employees that
any employee injured during work should file all medical and
prescription claims through Workman's Comp Insurance and not Health
Insurance.
Council President Carter asks the Council to think about
providing approximately $6~000 for an additional I650 square feet ~t
the Animal Shelter~ Manager Wheatley has the plans and most labor and
much of the materials will be donated.
There being no further business to come before the Council,
Councilperson Perkin~ moved to adjourn at 8:35 P.M. seconded by
Council President Carter and unanimously carried.
