COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MAY 6, 1991
The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana met
in regular session in Council Chambers, in the City-County Building in
Jeffersonville, Indiana, on the 6th day of May, 1991 at 7:30 o'clock
P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dale Orem and C.
Richard Spencer Jr. at the desk.
Mayor Orem asked all those present to stand for the invocation
given by Dr. Bill Groover of Oak Park Baptist Church. He then asked all
in attendance to join him in the pledge of allegiance to the flag.
The roll was called and those present were: Councilpersons
Jimmy Carter, Marie Clapp, Ron Grooms, Tony Harrod, John Perkins, Robert
Waiz, and Andrew Williams.
Absent: None.
Mayor Orem presented the minutes of the meeting of April 20,
1991 for consideration by the Council. Council President Carter made
the motion to approve the minutes as presented, seconded by
Councilperson Waiz and carried unanimously.
Clerk and Treasurer Spencer presented the claim register along
with several additonal claims for consideration by the Council.

Mayor Orem introduced Resolution No. 91-R-17, A Resolution of
Additional Appropriation. Mayor Orem asked Fire Chief Collins how many
additional firefighters would be necessary and how much it would cost in
order to eliminate the need for additonal overtime. Chief Collins

Ordinance Establishing The Jeffersonville Drainage Assistance Program,
stating his intentions with the Ordinance. This is not meant to
prevent, add to, or deter from any drainage corrections being worked on
by the City. Councilperson Grooms made the motion to pass Ordinance No.
91-OR-29 on the first reading only, seconded by Councilperson Perkins.
Mayor Orem explained this is to pinpoint small areas, not whole
neighborhoods. Council President Carter pointed out developers still
have to correct their own problems in new developments. Councilperson
Perkins suggests additional bonds be required by developers. Mayor Orem

Councilperson Perkins congratulated those on the Council who
are running for re-election for the good and positive campaigns. He
wishes all good luck.

City is going to do about the drainage problems on Center and Louise.
