Mr. Williams began by stating he was a life-long resident
of Jeffersonville. He feels the budget cannot be balanced as in the

noted the proposed 15% tax increase from a Mayor and Councilperson who
ran on a "no new taxes" platform. Whether taxes are raised or

worked very hard together and cannot~ and will not~ take a pay cut.
The employees will do everything possible to save money in the budget.
Mr. Ashabranner hopes the right decisions are made tonight.
Mr~ Rick VanGilder~ taxpayer~ agrees ~ith most comments.
He feels if the taxpayers desire adequate representation they should
not only vote but be here to make eure those that are elected are held
accountable by being here every meeting. He would like to see the
employees get back their money. The Council has taken a lot of abuse
that is not all their fault. The taxpayers should let them know how
they want the Council to vote.
Mr. Phil Lovan agrees with 90% of Mr. Williams comments,
and he shares the concerns of Mrs. Nolan. A lot of work has been done
by City workers over the last few weeks trying to help with the budget
problems. He invites any taxpayer' to talk to Mr. Ashabranner and
himself regarding the research 'they have done. Mr. Lovan stated the
employees will get their $500 back. The employees will be getting a
double on triple whammey with an increase in taxes~ a cut in pay and
the Police and Fire employees longevity.

a lot of displeasure when the action was taken. Many employees chose
