AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 2007 -OR -45
(Requiring All Jeffersonville City Owned Vehicles
To Display Vehicle Identification Stickers)
WHEREAS, the Common Council for the City of Jeffersonville, Clark
County Indiana (hereinafter the "Council"), is the City's statutory Fiscal and
Legislative Bodies pursuant to Indiana Code;
WHEREAS, the Council previously passed and adopted Ordinance No.
2007 -OR -45, an ordinance requiring all self-propelled city owned vehicles,
machines and equipment to display vehicle identification stickers, which said
ordinance is incorporated herein by reference;
WHEREAS, the Council now finds that it is necessary to amend said
ordinance to include a provision that the decal identifying the self-propelled
vehicle, machine, or equipment as being owned by the City of Jeffersonville also
include the identification of the particular City Department that owns the said
vehicle, machine or equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council:
1. That the Council hereby amends Ordinance No. 2007 -OR -45,
specifically adding the following sentence at the end of Section 2 of said
ordinance: "The said decal shall not be magnetic and shall also include the
idcntification-ef-#-he-pa#icular-Gity -Depart t that ow ,
machine or equipment."
2. That all other terms and provisions of Ordinance No. 2007 -OR -45 shall
remain in full force and effect.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval.

ORDINANCE 2007 -OR '
AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING ALL JEFFERSONVILLE CITY OWNED VEHICLES
TO DISPLAY VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION STICKERS
WHEREAS, IC 36-1-2.6(3) designates the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville as the Fiscal Body of said city, and
WHEREAS, IC 36-1-2-9(3) designates the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville as the Legislative Body of said city, and
WHEREAS, IC 36-1-3-3 states that if there is any doubt as to the existence of a power of a unit, the resolution shall be that this
power exists, and
WHEREAS, IC 36-1-3-4 states that a unit has all other powers necessary or desirable in the conduct of its affairs, even though not
granted by statute, and
WHEREAS, IC 36-4-6-18 grants the legislative body of a city, through the passage of ordinances, orders, resolutions, and motions
the authority to control the city's property and finances, and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville recognizes that the City of Jeffersonville owns, operates, and
maintains a large fleet of motor vehicles, and
WHEREAS, the Common council of the City of Jeffersonville now desires that all City owned vehicles be readily identifiable to the
citizens of Jeffersonville and the general public, and
WHEREAS, The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville now wishes to create a an ordinance requiring all city owned
vehicles to display identification stickers,
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE ORDAINED BY lilt COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE
Definition: Motor Vehicle means a vehicle that is self-propelled with provisionsfor the transporttof an operator,
including mowing machines, earth moving equipment, and any other self-propelled instruments used in the
maintenance and upkeep of land.
All motor vehicles owned, operated, leased, and/or maintained by the City of Jeffersonville shall readily display
markings in the -form of minimum seven (7) inch decals identifying the vehicle as being a Jeffersonville City vehicle.
This ordinance shalt apply to all city owned vehicles mentioned above with the exception of unmarked police vehicles
to be used by the Jeffersonville Police department.
This ordinance shall be enforced without exception. No employee shall continue to person city in owned said city that
not properly marked per this ordinance. Non compliance of this ordinance by any pe
vehicle shall cause said person to forfeit the use of said vehicle.
Any existing ordinance, or section(s) of existing ordinances that are in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville
and approval by the Mayor of the City of Jeffersonville, or the timely override of his veto.
