HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-19-1993COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JULY 19~ 1993 The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in the Mayor's Conference Room~ in the City-County Building~ Jeffersonville, Indiana, at 6:00 P.M. on the 19th day of July~ 1993. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr., with Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr, at the desk. Council President Potter made the motion to approve the minutes as presented~ seconded by Councilperson Wo!pert~ and carried unanimously. Clerk and Treasurer Spencer presented the claim list for consideration by the Council. Following all discussion~ it was decided to hold off the vote until the next meeting so the Council could have time to look over the list. Following all discussion Council President Potter made the motion to suspend the rules for Ordinance No. 93-OR-A6~ seconded by Councilperson Williams and carried unanimously. Council President Potter then made the motion to pass Ordinance No. 93-0R-46 on all three readings~ seconded by Councilperson Williams~ passing on the following roll call vote: Ayes: Councilpersons, Potters Wolpert~ Frantz~ Wilder~ Stemler, Wiiliams~ and Wilson. Nays: None. Clerk and Treasurer Spencer explained a letter from Street Commissioner Trembley requesting a building and a chipper. As the Motor Vehicle Fund is short on funds~ he suggests the Council consider an additional appropriation in the Cumulative Capital Development Fund an there is a carry-over balance. Councilperson Williams asked to table the decision at this time. Councilperson Frantz expressed the need for a building for preventative maintenance. Councilperson Stemler suggests the City become a member of the Southern Indiana Development commission. There has been money collected in the past in an Economic Development Fund that has rolled over year after year. Clerk and Treasurer Spencer explained this can be put into a budget for 1994~ or an additional appropriation may be requested for 1993. Councilperson Stemler has been told the City membership fee would be $57000. This fee has been $20~000. Following further discussion of the fund and the history it was the general consensus to put this in an Economic Development budget for 1994. This would have to have Council approval to use.
