A RESOLUTION 'DESIGNATING THE CONTENT OF BOOTHS AT THE CITY
OF JEFFERSONVILLE STEAMBOAT 'DAYS FESTIVAL
WHEREAS, the Common Council for the City of Jeffersonville, Clark
County Indiana (hereinafter the "Council"), is the City's statutory Legislative Body
pursuant to Indiana Code 36-4-6 et seq.;
WHEREAS, the Steamboat mays Festival Committee has previously
established that the nature, emphasis and theme of the Steamboat Clays Festival
is an arts and crafts festival;
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville Parks Authority, in
acknowledgement of the arts and crafts theme of the Steamboat mays Festival,
has previously approved that the content of booths at the Steamboat Days
Festival shall consist of arts and crafts only, with the inclusion of food vendor
booths, and further approved that political booths shall be excluded from the
festival.
WHEREAS, the Council, as the Legislative Body for the City, in
acknowledgement of the arts and crafts theme of the Steamboat [Days Festival,
now designates that the content of booths at the Steamboat Days Festival shall
consist of arts and crafts only, with the inclusion of food vendor booths, and
further designates that political booths shall be excluded from the festival.
WHEREAS, the exclusion of political booths from the festival shall not
prohibit the political free speech of any individual or group, and any individual or
group may freely display or disseminate protected political free speech at the
festival.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVES by the Common Council as
follows -
1 . That the content of booths at the Steamboat Days Festival shall consist of arts
and crafts only, with the inclusion of food vendor booths, and that political booths
shall be excluded from the festival.
2_ That the exclusion of political booths from the festival shall not prohibit the
political free speech of any individual or group, and any individual or group may
freely display or disseminate protected political free speech at the festival_
